Will Broncos lose Mare to Seahawks?

Posted: Thursday March 27, 2008 07:23AM ET

The Broncos attempted to get Olindo Mare to sign on the dotted line during his stay but couldn't sway him - at least immediately. The free-agent meeting wasn't enough to prevent him from getting on a plane to Seattle to visit the Seahawks, who have been in contact with him since it was apparent they'd lose Josh Brown, their own money kicker.

Syracuse grad - love ya buddy. The guy is getting old and I am concerned about his foot flying off and following the football over the cross bar.

gotta' have him before you can lose him ... :o

Olindo Mare is not a good kicker...he misses some of the easiest field goals even wider right than Scott Norwood...

Report Offensive Comment

ya...mare is done......draft a guy in the 5-6th round

Report Offensive Comment

First of all I can not believe the Broncos got rid of Elam, I know he is old but he wins more games then he losses. Mare is washed up and is an average kicker and with Denver not getting in the end zone worth a damm this year they will need a good kicker

Report Offensive Comment

Dude, it's not like they weren't trying to sign him.

Report Offensive Comment

Just get a guy in the draft. Don't be afraid, Shanahan.

Report Offensive Comment

i don't really follow why either team is pursuing him.....

Report Offensive Comment

Hes a decent kicker.

Report Offensive Comment

It they are lucky...

Report Offensive Comment

yeah but they were trying to sign him for nothing, sapp took a cut to stay with Denver they should of bumed up his pay, but yeah 9 million would be ahard to baet

Report Offensive Comment

Will Shanarat ever figure out Free Agency and the draft!?!

Report Offensive Comment

Isn't Mare so old that he was the original replacement for Garo Yepremian way back when ???

Report Offensive Comment

As a Saints fan you don't want Mare! He is way past his prime.

Don't sign this poison.

Report Offensive Comment

Mare isn't a fool he wants to win!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Report Offensive Comment

wtf i thought they are going with the dude who did the kickoffs last year. i hope all this cleaning house produces better results than last year.

need MUCH better D and an offense thats not so predictable.

Report Offensive Comment

Is this really a loss? If anything it is an addition by subtraction.

Report Offensive Comment

I'd get him before I took a guy in the draft. Mare isn't what he used to be but he still can play. Put him on a good team and he will be better.

Report Offensive Comment

Mare isn't worth more than the veteran's minimum. Bring him to camp and see if maybe he's ready to break out of his seven-year slump. But it looks like he doesn't have it anymore. Not accurate enough.
