Why the hell would they name a successor after one year? These are the dumbest College T&Rs ever.

Local papers have been negative lately, what a shocker. Tubby is really excited about his recruiting class and people here love him, unlike Kentucky. This story should wait for at least a few years.

Why would Tubby want to leave? He has great respect in Minnesota. He is free pretty much to do what he wants. Give him another year or two and he will have a really good team that will go deep in the ncaa tournament. I can see Saunders coaching the Gophers but not for another 4 or 5 years!

Tubby won't go anywhere. I don't see him getting a lot of offers to coach a prestigious college basketball program.

Why would someone speculate about Flip. In one year, Tubby took a team that had 9 wins last season to team that has 20 wins. You may be taking a step down with Flip.

Keep the comments coming you all. We need to slap down idiotic media types when they write this kind of junk. All this does is make it a little harder for Tubby to recruit. Tubby is at his best right now - not since Tulsa and Georgia has he had this kind of intensity and enthusiasm. Why not enjoy it and let Saunders stay happy in the NBA?

Flip is actually making more in the pros than he could coaching in the college ranks. This is really stupid stuff for the Pioneer Press to print. In fact it's an insult to both Flip and Tubby (that could be the title of a hit sitcom series), Tubby has earned a lot of respect this year for taking a slightly above average (talent wise) team from 9 to 20 wins (thank you neilcap) and deserves at least 4 to 5 years to prove what he can do (if we can keep him around the next 20 is okay by me). And Flip has produced another team that will challenge for an NBA title, and going to coach his alma-mater now would be completely unwise.

Anyone here ever listen to the Morning Show on KFAN? This writer is the guy that they just ridicule in one of their segments about how out of touch and unrealistic the items are that he writes.

You'd think that the Pioneer Press would have a little bit of journalistic integrity with their writers....

Tubby has only coached 1 year and there is a story about a new coach.
That is crazy. Besides, when Tubby does decide to retire, he will be
pushing the Minn. AD to give the job to Saul Smith.

I am a Kentucky fan who did not like the way Tubby was treated when he was our coach. I am happy the the Gopher's have fans that is ready to ridicule idiots who writes this junk. What a non story with nothing to it. I am glad Tubby has found such a good home.
