Will Bennett end up in Indiana?

Posted: Sunday March 30, 2008 08:56AM ET

One undercurrent coursing through the Charlotte regional was that Jim Delany had thrown his considerable weight behind Washington State coach Tony Bennett for the Indiana job. Delany is the influential Big Ten Conference commissioner, and his affirmation probably would mean something to Indiana AD Rick Greenspan. As conventional thinking goes: Indiana offers, and Bennett leaps. Washington State people are edgy because Bennett has had ample opportunity to disavow interest in the Indiana job, and any other. He said flatly more than five weeks ago he wouldn't talk about Indiana, and he shut down any conversation about a job switch after the Carolina loss, saying the night ought to be about his senior class. That's Bennett, wedded to his scruples, preferring the story be about somebody other than him. So his silence is not necessarily indicative of anything.

It's Not!

Why the hell would ANY coach go somewhere that will be sanctioned like hell? Why are people talking about coaches when this team could have no schollies? How about keeping Dakich? With the dumass players he had, winning 3 games or whatever is good.

He can build a contending basketball program at Washington State. It is not always greener at other schools. He should stay where he is at.

Uh-oh.Bennett has done an excellent job as wazzou, but many coaches would consider the Indiana gig a much better one.If I was Indiana I would be jumping to make him the coach.

I pray that Indiana hires this guy... Get him the hell outta the Pac-10... Doing the kind of job he is doing at Wazzu... Can only imagine what he could do with a gig like this one

He is a good young coach, hope it works out for him.

Report Offensive Comment

That's my prediction and he'll do great at Indiana.

Yeah IrishR#1,why would anyone want to coach at a school that is in the heart of basketball country and has 5 National Championships to it's name?Huh,I wonder? All you Hoosier haters are idiots!

P.S. There is no guaruntee there will be huge sanctions since Indiana has cooperated with the NCAA.

Spokesman Review out of Spokane reports he turned Indy down. The guy is building something at WSU. He may go sometime later, but he has good recruits and CHARACTER. I see him at WAZZU for a few years with his own recruits.

Great move if indiana get him,to bad all there good players are going to be leaving for the draft

Report Offensive Comment

haha, he turned down IU and CAL in the same day. Maybe WSU will finally be able to hold onto one of its good coaches.
