Isiah denies talking to Hoosiers
Posted: Monday March 31, 2008 04:55AM ET
Not only won't Isiah Thomas coach the New York Knicks next season, but he won't guide his alma-mater Indiana either. With the Hoosiers on the verge of naming a new coach this week, Thomas, arguably the school's most famous alumnus, said yesterday he has not been contacted about the job or even consulted. Thomas may not be a hero in the Knicks locker room but he's a legend in the state of Michigan that swarms with universities and popular in his hometown Chicago, nearly attending DePaul. Thomas yesterday lobbied for Dan Dakich, who played for the Hoosiers in the mid-1980's just after Thomas, to remain coach in the wake of Kelvin Sampson's dismissal. Thomas has an Indiana scholarship named after him and his son currently is a freshman.

Oh jeez. The LAST thing that IU needs is to be taking advice from Isiah.
I guess that Isiah is thinking, "I've already killed a minor league (CBA) and an NBA team, why not move on to a college program?"

Report Offensive CommentFrom Sampson to Thomas = bad to worse. Remember, Thomas has his own very sordid ethics issues in the Knicks' front office. Don't even think of this, Hoosiers.

Report Offensive CommentWhy would anyone consider Isiah as a coach after all the mayhem he authored in NY?

Report Offensive CommentWhile I wish for this to happen, it never will. I want Isiah gone from New York but I do not wish him on Indiana.

Report Offensive CommentAfter watching Isiah coach the Knicks yesterday against the Hawks, I was shocked about the lack of any effort on his part to win the game. Especially shocking was his letting the clock run in the last two minutes without fouling or doing anything to stop the Hawks from running out the clock. Ultimately, the Hawks (being the Hawks) committed three stupid fouls & the knicks hit a 3 pointer.... had Thomas cared enough to get the clock stopped, the game would have been winnable.

Report Offensive CommentSurprise, surprise: Isiah thinks a 50-50 coach is a good one. Seriously, however good he once was as a player, he must have bumped his head or something. Because there is not a single person involved in professional basketball who has a lower basketball IQ than Isiah. If he had any self-respect left, he'd use it to commit ritual suicide. He'd be a minor hero of mine for ridding his family, the sport, and the world of his miserable existence.
