Character concerns for McFadden?
Blessed with 4.33 speed in the 40-yard dash, crazy fast for a 6-1, 215-pound man, Darren McFadden can run away from just about anybody. What he hasn't developed is the ability to walk away. Many NFL teams, including the Jets, will analyze that conundrum over the next four weeks as they prepare for the draft. Few will argue that McFadden is the most dynamic player on the board, but there are character concerns. Two years ago, he was involved in a vicious fight outside a nightclub that left his left big toe hideously dislocated, mangled so badly that it revealed the bone. Sobbing uncontrollably in the ambulance, McFadden called friends and relatives on his cell phone to apologize and vow that he'd never do anything that reckless again. But he did. There was another nightclub altercation in his hometown of Little Rock, where he was handcuffed, but not arrested, for "provoking aggressive behavior," according to police. The former Arkansas tailback has no criminal record, but his rowdy behavior, coupled with stories about illegitimate children and paternity suits, has prompted teams to dig into his background. They want to know: Superman or Pacman?

Great....all people are capable of killing another human being. So get the freak over the issue. Many men have multiple ladies and vice versa. Stop dropping bombs on this brother because he likes - to live. He is on steroids or HGH, someother sort of dope. Yet he has children or the ladies want "every freaking thing" to go their way - he is deemed to be a "bad man" with charactar issues. My people....you need to look at yourself....check yo'self.

Well if mangles someone and the dude shoots him in his thigh.....what is learned from all of this? People with ultra aggressive disorders usually get put in their place - by the silent ones.

I fear the worst for the NFL....that all of this will be overlooked. This will be a test for the league. If they have ANY desire to put a stop to the ongoing problems in the league (and I'm not talking about baby mama's all over the country, but more along the agressive violence in public) this will be the test. Hmmm...do we let him in because he is raw tallent and will bring an un-godly amount of money to the league, or do we grow a pair and make a stand for what we have been 'hinting' that we believe in. Like I said, I fear the worst.

C'mon, DMc isn't even in the same hood at that hoodrat, Adam Jones. He's helping his brother in the nightclub incident....

From the self-destructive behavior he's exhibiting toward his own body, he sounds more like Kellen Winslow II to me. Or maybe, at worst, Michael Vick? How much playing time (months, seasons) will he lose because of his "poor decisions". How much money will teams "waste" in bonus money and salary on a player who is on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list because of non-football related injuries? That's what any GM with half a brain is wondering!!!

Character Issues? What? Because of a couple fights and some extra women? That's pretty much the norm nowadays aint it? Dallas will take 'em him, if the Raiders don't. Go figure......

That's a real nice puff piece from the Daily News but it's hard to gloss over the warning buzzers that are sounding off about this player

They are legitimate concerns for a team, but it is going to far to compare him to pacman. It is really sad to see so many young black men labeled because of these things. As a black man, I would like to see more Jerry Rice's and Warrick Dunn's then Pacmans and Travis Henry's . . . . .dont' know which one Mcfadden will be yet . . . . .

As an Arkansan who grew up several miles from McFadden, the 1st incident was when someone was stealing his brothers car. The 2nd has had wildly different reports in the local paper as to what really happened. Lets not forget he's still a young man, and most all of us made mistakes at his age.

The guy is a loser - it really is quite simple, STAY OUT OF THE CLUBS!!!
you are a projected early 1st rounder... why hinder that?... why take that chance?... learned nothing from Pacman and others... that tells me another dumb youknowwhat with bad attitude...
I'm thinking late first round if at all....

This is a non-issue right now. He's a young man who's gonna make mistakes. I also think the key phrase is "has no criminal record".

I don't buy that crap... young man and will make mistakes... was it the first fight?.. how about the second one?... what was a freshman and sophmore doing at a club anyways?
was it his first illegitimate child?... or the second one?... not bright enough to buy a condom?... or not bright enough to operate one?...
stay clear Cowboys - Felix Jones is the better pick...

The only way Dallas gets him is to give up both our first round picks and he is not worth that given the need for a corner, wide receiver and running back. It looks like Dallas is going after one charcter issue with Adam Jones, we don't need two.

What was a freshman and sophmore doing at a club? Have you been to college? And did you read the whole article? The first fight said he was defending his little brother. And like I said, he's a young man and he's gonna make mistakes. He grew up in a house where his mom smoked crack that she bought from one of her sons. He had brothers who were a blood and a crip. So, yes,he's gonna make mistakes. Who was there while he was growing up to be a positive influence? Where was he gonna learn right from wrong while his mother was doing crack?
