Bulls consider trading guard

06:56 AM ET 03.31 | The easiest path to finding consistency is an off-season trade, which Bulls GM John Paxson surely will explore. Moving a guard might be easier said than done. Any sign-and-trade scenario is difficult given Ben Gordon essentially announced to league he's seeking more than $10 million annually by rejecting last summer's extension offer. Bulls will shop him, but he'll return to play with Larry Hughes, for better or for worse. Hughes' contract makes him tough to move until 2009-10 season. Despite his substandard season, Kirk Hinrich still has value. Bulls will move him as part of larger package to settle point-guard position.

I don't get how bad the bulls have become. Before the season some were picking them in the east finals. What happened?

March 31, 2008  08:35 AM ET

Discipline. That's what happened. Everybody started caring about their contracts and not the team.

March 31, 2008  09:44 AM ET

that's what happens when ppl start playing for contracts rather than team victories. Plain and simple

March 31, 2008  10:04 AM ET

They need to keep Hinrich if they want some good character on this team, because if you ask me that is what they need.

March 31, 2008  10:17 AM ET

Trade Hinrich for Ridnour.

March 31, 2008  10:24 AM ET

the only problem is which ever team trades for fim has the same problem that the bull encountered.....HE CANT SHOOT!!

March 31, 2008  10:32 AM ET

they rack-a-disiprin

NO NO NO NO NO BEN MUST GO, SO MUST HUGHES IF POSSIBLE LOL. Kirk can stay, I have no hatred for Ben, hes a great player who i have loved to watch for the past 4 years. Ben Gordon is an ok guard. He is listed at 6-3 when he is actually about 5-11 and a half. He can score, he can get on fire, he can nail the 3 ball, however his defense is horrible. He has averaged under 1 steal every year in his career and only averaged a max of 3.1 rebounds in a year. Sure not all guards average high in either categories but my point is he has nothing extreamly special to offer the team except for his shooting.

WAIT WAIT WAIT but he averages ___ pts per game....blah blah blah, so could someone else if they got his minutes. Now I ask u as Chicago bulls fans, do you like guards who cant play defense or rebound? Do you like undersized scorers who are liabilities on the other side of the court? I dont, never have , thats why i loved MJ. Thats also why I love guards like Thabo Sefolosha. He needs time to develop and more minutes but he has an athletic and defensive advantage over most guards.

well any way back to gordon...I know people say he scores, he hits the shots for us in the big game...blah blah blah...but sooner or later we need to let him go, or tell him sorry your on the bench, and we will only use you when we suit fit. Ben Gordon will not like that, in fact he'd rather start at pg or sg for a team on the east coast, a team like NY.

So I ask the Bulls Fans out there, do you really want Ben Gordon around, our would you rather see a young, athletic, big, long armed guard get his time? The BEN Gordon Era needs to end, bring in a new Gordon or someone to learn from kirk, thabo, and the team. Then start kirk, thabo, ______, Gooden and Noah. The _________ is the draft pick and or Deng lol. The pick in my eyes should be love, beasly, or the Italian Galinari. Basicly a 3 spot who can score. The bulls should try and use their pick w/ a sign n trade deal including deng, and/or gordon along with hughes. Try to move up in the draft. Unless they try n keep deng, then Maybe try to get Hashem Thibet, or Roy Hibbert with a later pick. Either way there are a million ways this team can go with trades, sign and trades and all that stuff so i wont even start there.

So do you want Ben Gordon as a bull? What has he done for you lately? Has he been consistent? Has he made you happy? Have you watched him go to the basket and draw fouls all season, and nail 3s to win games, even more so than years past?.....no you watched him fall apart and subside to pressure during the kobe stuff and a bad start, pressure put on him by people like us...fans

i wish Orlando had some sort of money to get Ben Gordon. I believe the Magic are in heavy need of a legit 2 guard or a stud PG. Something to get them even further next year

March 31, 2008  01:51 PM ET

I'm with you Bobobullsnbears. Gordon is not as good as he thinks he is. He is NOT the go to guy even though he tries to make every final shot, turning the ball over in the process. Yes, he does score a lot of points but he takes so many shots.
hey- irishmafia,
gordon is not a stub PG. just a ball hog with no defensive skills and an addiction to shooting the ball too much

It would be ridiculous to move Hinrich, he is the Bull with the consistent effort to play hard. Even though he may not be offensively talented as a player. But defensively he brings toughness. And he also could be the PG for the team. Please, no more SG position, as it tends to wear hi down defending bigger guards.
As a Bulls fan, I would rather have Deng or Gordon leave. Because of not proving themselves, and also disappointing me for turning down the legitimate contracts offered to them. I think they should acquire Galinari or Love in the upcoming draft. Each guy will not only bring talent, but the ability to have consistent effort.

They wont be able to get rid of Gordon or Hughes. Nobody will pay either anything close to the kind of money they're making. They should keep Hinrich, and look to do something in the low post.

March 31, 2008  04:55 PM ET

hmm i wonder why

March 31, 2008  05:56 PM ET

.....i wonder why.....wait, isnt this the team that traded away elton brand and tyson chandler?.............

March 31, 2008  07:56 PM ET

Let me get this straight :you give Hinrich 50mil 2 years ago now you want to trade him???? JOHN PAXSON NEEDS TO BE FIRED!!! He's admitting he's a bozo!!!!
