Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas has been medically cleared to return to game action as soon as he feels ready, according to a team source, but won't play tonight against the Milwaukee Bucks and remains unsure of when he will return this season.

The wait continues...

gosh arenas just play

I can see why he wouldnt want to pushi it with 8 games left after all the frustration and set backs the guy has gone through. He was a touch away from becoming an absolute super star and then had some major injuries. He has his own personal career to think about, and I dont have a problem with him staying out the rest of the season if he honestly doesnt feel ready. On the other side, if you want Jamison to stay you may want to prove that he is important to you and get out there and help him.

sit out and rest. Your team will lose in the first round anyway.

They are tied with Toronto right now. Currently the Wizards are the 5th seed meaning they will play the Cavs, which is a lot better than the 6th seed (Toronto) who will have to face the Magic (who are playing very well). Unless Gilbert is 100%, just keep him on the bench.

So first he's mad cuz he won't get cleared...now he's claered and doesn't want to play. WTF?

Does the article say HE doesn't want to play? It just says he won't play. It might be a coaches decision. Elton Brand is cleared to play. But he might not play tonight. What does that mean?

from the article...
Arenas was not happy about the decision and said he would not play the rest of the season as he left the locker room before the game started. However, he returned after calming down and watched the Wizards beat the Pistons from a seat on the bench and backed off his threat to sit out the season in an interview later that night.

Arenas said he would likely take a more cautious approach during the same interview.

"My feeling is, I'm all ready to go out there and play, and mentally I'm past that fear of getting hurt again and now you're telling me I can't play?" Arenas said the night of the Pistons game. "So I'm thinking that if you tell me a week, I need to take two weeks and make sure."
-----------------------
I think he is trying to get back at the team for not letting him play. I really would not be surprised if that is the case and I think by saying that it pretty much confirmed it. Seriously though, I wish he would shut up.

I am a season ticket holder and I will see tonight

April 2, 2008  04:42 PM ET

Good Call Gilbert.....

April 2, 2008  04:54 PM ET

When a player has the ability to play but won't, they should dock those big fat game checks.

April 2, 2008  05:19 PM ET

Yeah I gotta agree with Max here. I mean come on people if they guy can play he should play. Other people are playing hurt...and he won't when he's healthy. Seems a little soft of him to me.

arenas is overrated.

April 2, 2008  08:14 PM ET

what a loser. he has a screw loose just like Artest. bet he won't give back his paycheck now that he is cleared to play but won't. most people would get fired from their jobs for such insabordination.
