MLB invites Canseco to talk

Major League Baseball investigators asked for Jose Canseco's cooperation in their quest for information about steroid use in baseball. MLB and Canseco have not been on friendly terms for most of the last decade. Canseco said he believes he was blackballed from the game and has made his disdain for Bud Selig known. MLB, in turn, dismissed Canseco as bitter, at best, and delusional, at worst, when he wrote his first book "Juiced." MLB declined to comment on yesterday's decision to contact Canseco. The two senior investigators, Victor A Burgos and Edurado Dominguez, traveled a few blocks from their Park Avenue office to see Canseco. A baseball source said yesterday they wanted to open a line of communication with Canseco.

Naw...we all know that Jose could hit home runs, but he was at the end of his career and also.....he is full of crap. We all know that fact. Arod wanting his wife. Heck I do too...she must be a fox. Right? Jose be chasing them chicks also....he is an oxy-moron. He does not look into the mirror at himself....to see who he is and perhaps what people may perceive of him. Just like Clemens....living in a world of suspended time.

Now that MLB wants something from him he is officially vindicated.

April 3, 2008  07:49 AM ET

All MLB needs to do is buy his book

April 3, 2008  07:58 AM ET

He's probably full of it, and cashing in on the effects of his first book, it does make sense.....however, all the vitriol directed at him (Go away, Jose) is identical to the reaction to his first books. Just something to keep in mind. Also, is it really so hard to believe that a player that regularly breaks baseball's unwritten rules would have the audicity to break it's actual ones? There is definately something off about A-Rod.

Does anyone think that Bond007 and Omaar are the same person?

April 3, 2008  09:02 AM ET

It is a known fact that steriod use has been in all three sports for a very long time.I am glad he wrote the book.Bud Sigel is a disgrace to MLB.He needs to step down and let someone else have the job who has the balls to stand up to the players. They get caught, kick them out.None of this 3 time stuff. They no the rules. They don't deserve a second chance.

April 3, 2008  09:14 AM ET

Hey, at least FN decided to use a pic other than that gay village people look-a-like photo of Jose today....guess there's a sliver lining in everything if you want to see it bad enough.

Bond when Canseco looks in the mirror he wishes he saw A-rod. MLB wanting to talk to Jose is really pointless because he is going to give the same ambiguous comments he has been making all the time.

April 3, 2008  09:31 AM ET

Im tired of this guy can he just go away he is just a wash up trying to make a buck since he blew all of his money when he was a player. i hate how everybody makes him out to be a creditable source of information. HE SHOULD JUST GO AWAY!!!!!

April 3, 2008  09:36 AM ET

At least Bonds isnt the news that much

Jose is milking this fame. i think it is hilarious

But how come no words about McGwire yet this year

Can't be. He didn't take up the whole page on his post.

Anyone who buys this guy's book is an absolute idiot. I did not read the first one and this "sequel" is laughable at best. Jose is a world class terd and a fatal car wreck would make a fitting end to his miserable existance. I am actually dumber for making a comment on this issue. May god have mercy on your soul, Jose you F^(king ****.

April 3, 2008  10:29 AM ET

and they are not in ALL CAPS

April 3, 2008  10:39 AM ET

<<< Anyone who buys this guy's book is an absolute idiot. I did not read the first one and this "sequel" is laughable at best. >>>

How can you offer such an opinion if you haven't read the books? Oh wait, it's a sports fan site, you don't have to be informed to throw your opinion around recklessly and call it gospel.

April 3, 2008  10:41 AM ET

My question is this- Why did it take TWO books for MLB to call the guy? I mean, why didn't Mitchell speak with Jose for the report?

Christ, he was the only guy to get up in front of Congress and tell the truth about the doping going on in MLB. You could argue that Jose's book is the REASON we have any action on this issue at all. And MLB is just now calling to speak with him.

Priceless.

April 3, 2008  10:43 AM ET

And an Idiot will lead them.....

April 3, 2008  11:12 AM ET

Finally, MLB is trying to do what they should have done a long time ago by talking to Mr. Canseco. Really at this point MLB had liittle choice (with his second book, Vindicated, coming out). They would have been critisized if they did not try to open the channels of communication. Jose has been proven a somewhat reliable source of information on the use of steroids in baseball, by the Mitchell Report (even if Senator Mitchell chose not to talk to Jose). The baseball public needs the full story about this scandal. Who else is stepping forward to tell what they know, except Jose? I'm a baseball purist. I want all of the drug use out of the game (or as much as they can definatively find). Play the game fair, without using drugs, or don't play it at all, is my position.

April 3, 2008  11:17 AM ET

Canseco should give up the people who supply drugs and steroids rather than exacting his revenge upon other players ... go after the Madam rather than the johns
