Michigan considers 2-QB system

There's no clear-cut leader in the Michigan quarterback race as spring practice nears its end. There may not have to be a single winner, though. Coach Rich Rodriguez didn't dismiss the possibility of playing two quarterbacks next season, as long as both provide an equal chance at victory. "If you have two quarterbacks that are good enough to win with, then you play them both," Rodriguez said following Thursday's practice. "If I have one that's good enough to win with, I'll only play one."

Even though it will probably be a rough year, I think it will be a fun team to watch.

This is spring practice-ese that translates into: "I want the Qb play to be better, so you should work harder." Using two QBs is too Perrilloux-ous.

You can bet UM football will be fun to watch regardless of outcome. Had anyone told you this time last year that UM football would turn to the spread O, you would have accused them of being more deranged than a THE University of Ohio State fan.

It's a shame that Carlos Brown has yet to experience any good luck and is out with a finger injury cuz he projected to take snaps too.

Maybe we will be surprised and UM will come out blazing. Or they'll just end up stinking like Columbus after all the UOS fans have pooped in public places before a game. :)

GO BLUE!

April 4, 2008  10:46 AM ET

I'm glad to see other UM fans like myself open to the fact the program will have some growing pain. But I am still excited for the progam.

April 4, 2008  10:54 AM ET

Any UM fan who can't come to terms that this year isn't going to look pretty might as well just become an UOS fan! :P

On the bright side, we most likely will see a lot of FRESHMAN get experience playing. I don't think we'll see a lot of redshirts this year.

April 4, 2008  10:55 AM ET

Oh, and expect more passes up the middle and direct snaps to the RB. WOO HOO!

April 4, 2008  10:55 AM ET

I can see us going 0-10 and going into the OSU game and beating them.

April 4, 2008  10:56 AM ET

or 0-9 whatever it is before the OSU game.

April 4, 2008  11:01 AM ET

The problem with that theory is we would have to find a way to lose to the Irish... that would be difficult..

April 4, 2008  11:12 AM ET

Right...then 1-10 before the OSU game.

April 4, 2008  11:20 AM ET

Whatever it takes. Michigan should play 5 QB's, as long as they find the one that can execute the offense.

I think Threet starts, but Sheridan is the one that takes over, only because he is actually mobile.

April 4, 2008  11:20 AM ET

Prediction: 7 and 4. It's still Michigan, there will see be a bowl game at the end of this season.

If we lose to ND, Coach Rod should be shytcanned!!!!!!

April 4, 2008  11:22 AM ET

Calm down, y'all. Give the man sometime. Rome wasn't built in a day you know.

April 4, 2008  11:25 AM ET

RichRod will adjust this system. I think that we will be fine. Albeit, of course, we will not be at full strength the first year. But like "The Warden" said, A LOT of freshman are going to get playing time, and that just means more experience down the road, and the faster that they will probably go around the learning curve. THUS Hail to the Victors BIG TIME a couple o' years down the road, when all those juniors who have already played 2 full seasons with tons of playing time should come out, and run up, around, and through all who oppose. Woot Woot!!!! HAIL!!!!

April 4, 2008  11:35 AM ET

DickRod will have them ready.
For what I have no idea.
I agree that it will be "fun" to watch.
