Signings put pressure on Kiffin

Raiders boss Al Davis just sunk some $180 million in the free agent market, signing anyone he could -- functional ACL or otherwise -- to turn around his floundering franchise and deliver his first Super Bowl ring in 24 years. Embattled coach Lane Kiffin knows what that means: all the more demand for him to produce an instant winner in his second season, if only because no coach this side of Jon Gruden has gotten a third-year chance in Oakland.

It's Not!

Raiders need a coach for all their "new found talent". D-Mac would be a great fit though.

Pressure? From Al "The Great". No way, I can't say that I saw that coming. But if the Raiders were smart they would draft McFadden and waste his talent like they did Marcus Allen. The league will be a better place without Al Davis real soon!

Report Offensive Comment

Oakland won't get any better til Al Davis quits meddling.

Report Offensive Comment

Even with a 2nd year man in Russell at the helm, the AFC West is a terrible division so anything is possible.

Report Offensive Comment

Why would any one want that job anymore?

Report Offensive Comment

So getting Javon Walker and signing Tommy Kelly to a stupid deal means "pressure"?

Report Offensive Comment

Just because he spent 180 million doesn't mean he did anything to help his team. I can vouch for Gibril as a good player, but not worth the contract he got. And William Joseph is a waste of a roster spot.

My apologies to Winnie..

Wow, Big Al is nutty. They are worse than last year. McFadden won't help. It will interesting to see if he can play in a pro style offense and not the weird thing the Razorbacks ran. I think they have a shot at 0-16.

Report Offensive Comment

8 wins??? They will be lucky to get two of them.

Sad to see a once proud franchise being run like a family Deli. Wake up and smell what you're cooking Al. Your team needs one coach for at least 4-6 years so the players can buy into a system and build upon their successes.

I think Kiffin did a good job last year... We won some games... And were close in others... And thats something we haven't been able to say over the last few years... I am not sold on all of our signings over the off-season... I just wish Al would back off... And let the coach he hired do his job.... We don't need McFadden at #4... Hopefully we trade that pic... And add some pics in the later rounds.... Should be interesting

Al Davis needs to remember to fire Kiffin is he does not have a good season. Two seasons is enough to evaluate a head coaches potential.

Al Davis..........Idiot!!

Hey Big Al just make sure to draft McFadden !!!

An elementary teacher starts a new job at a school in St. Paul, Minnesota and trying to make a good impression on her first day explains to her class that she's a Vikings fan. She asks the class to raise their hands if they too are Vikings fans. Everyone in the class raises their hand except one little girl. The teacher looks at the girl with surprise and asked:

"Mary, why didn't you raise your hand?"

"Because, I'm not a Vikings fan." she replied.

The teacher, still shocked asked Mary: "Well, if you're not a Vikings fan, then who are you a fan of?"

"I'm a Chargers fan' and proud of it!" Mary replied.

The teacher could not believe her ears. "Well Mary, might you explain why you are a Chargers fan?"

"Because my Mom and Dad are from San Diego. My Mom is a Chargers fan and my Dad is a Chargers fan. so I too am a Chargers fan!"

"Well," said the teacher, in an obviously annoyed tone, "that's no reason for you to be a Chargers fan. You don't have to be just like your parents all of the time. What if your Mom was Street Walker, your Dad a Crack Addict and a Car Thief, what would you be then?"

Mary answers, "A Raiders fan."

The first time I heard that joke it was between the two Scottish soccer teams, the Celtics and the Rangers. Works for Vikings and the Raiders, too. lol.

Lane probably hopes it happens. They will draft McFadden only to have him holdout 1/2 the year, opening thing ups up for Lane to escape with $. By the was the "terrible AFC West" still has the Chargers...

Report Offensive Comment

Huh. I don't really follow the Raiders so maybe I'm missing something, but how is Kiffin under any more pressure than he was at the end of last season, when Davis tried to get him to "resign"?

Report Offensive Comment

Signing and over spending on a bunch of free agents never bodes well for any team. Raiders need to sink that ship and build from the ground up. They also need to show some patience.

I don't think the Raiders have had a coach that could butt heads with Al Davis since John Madden left.
