White Sox GM fires back at Canseco

Ken Williams' initial reaction was to dismiss it. So when he received a text message on Friday to comment on former slugger-turned-author Jose Canseco telling the Sun-Times that the White Sox general manager was indeed aware of the fact that steroid use was going on in his clubhouse in 2001, he didn't feel the need to respond until the next morning. ''I could care less what Canseco says,'' was the text Williams sent back on Saturday afternoon.

I was at a Borders Book Store last night in New Jersey and am happy to report seeing five fresh stacks of Vindicated untouched and higher than any other books on the new release table.

Ok, so he "COULDn't" care less, he's investigating taking legal action, he doesn't want to lend credence... pretty much covers the bases....

EXCEPT-

I didn't see the part where he said Jose was lying.

When I think of Chicago, I'm reminded of Oprah. That's frickin' scary!

Chicago is an absolute dump!

The White Sux are in for a loooooooooooooooong season.

That's just it Sox Sider, no one will just come out and call Jose a liar. An honest man could of course, but are there any left?

April 6, 2008  12:03 PM ET

why not just say, Canseco is wrong.

April 6, 2008  12:23 PM ET

steroid users in every clubhouse, this is a non story

April 6, 2008  12:25 PM ET

awsome someone **** off cansaco

April 6, 2008  12:40 PM ET

no one will say canseco is wrong because no one has ever gone to prison for taking steroids. only about lying about taking steroids. you get into a war of words with someone like canseco and say that you didnt take steroids, then you have to confirm that for a congressional committee, then they investigate, and you are a goner.

April 6, 2008  12:42 PM ET

Broadhead, you're a stooge. Chicago is anything but a dump.

April 6, 2008  12:45 PM ET

Does anybody still care about this steroids crap? Of course the whole Sox locker room was using them. So was every single other locker room in professional sports. It's clear. Nothing can be done about it. If people care about it now, then they'll put measures in place to monitor, prevent, and punish it. No matter what, there's no use in Kenny Williams-- or anybody else-- denying it. Nobody's going to believe him if he's telling the truth, and nobody's going to care if he's lying.

That's firing back?? Mr Williams is capable of a better comment than that.

April 6, 2008  01:10 PM ET

This guy (JC) is broke. He'll say anything for any amount of CA$H. What does A-Rod hitting on his wife have to do with steroids !?! I stopped taking him seriously after he "knocked" one out of the park . . . with his HEAD ! (lol) Now he's admitting to being a cuckhold. What's next, throwing his brother under the bus, too !?!

LSH99,

Let me see, the last time I was in Chicago, there was trash and graffiti everywhere. Siren were blasting. Traffic was horrible. People were RUDE. The buildings looked old and had broken windows. Oh.....and what is that oder?

Yep, Chicago is a dump.

I will admit, I do like Ozzie, but he's from Venezuela.
