Those within UCLA's program expect Darren Collison and Kevin Love to declare for the NBA draft, sources said, although neither player wanted to talk about that after UCLA's third straight trip to the Final Four ended without a national title.

Isn't Kevin Love white?

April 6, 2008  11:22 AM ET

He is white

April 6, 2008  11:57 AM ET

An anylystfor ESPN said he wouldn't make it as a star because he's white. I couldn't believe he said that.

April 6, 2008  12:00 PM ET

i bet it was stephen bardo who said it. jk anyways love is a helluva player. we can never accurately predict how someone would do in the next level until they get there.

April 6, 2008  12:08 PM ET

neither Love nor Collison looked ready for the NBA against Memphis -- in fact, UCLA stunk it up, period -- they were outhustled, outshot, and outplayed -- Collison makes bad decisions and is way too small and slow for the NBA -- Love looked like he was out of gas, and he'd been crushed by the bigger quicker older more experienced NBA guys -- they both should stay at UCLA another year at least -- being white only hurts a little when one plays in college; it will kill Love in the NBA

Westbrook how bout Russell 22 pts against Memphis

April 6, 2008  12:39 PM ET

Chances are they will go pro. Hard to stay in school when millions of dollars are waived in your face.

And though Kevin Love might be white, I don't think he knows it especially with that facial hair he was sporting (white guys don't do that). But hey, it's a free country and if he wants to pretend to be black, that's his right! Heck, he'll soon have millions of dollars to do a what Michael Jackson did but in the opposite direction.

April 6, 2008  02:14 PM ET

Somebody is going to draft Kevin Love and have cause to regret it. Memphis exposed the primary weakness of his game, which is that he needs the ball to be effective. Centers in the NBA need to be able to defend, rebound and block shots even on days when they barely get a sniff of the ball on offense. That's not Love's game, so in the pros he may get his 12 points but he'll concede even more.

The game in the pros has evolved away from the use of the center in the offense. It's just too easy for defenses to deny the ball to the post and take away the passing lanes a player like Love would need to be effective.

I doubt either guy needs the money. There are a couple good playmaking recruits coming in, including a big playmaking PG. May not help Collison much, but a new dynamic for Love and the offense.

April 6, 2008  02:40 PM ET

neither of them could handle memphis' pressure defense. if nba scouts watched the game, you can bet that both players stock dropped considerably. they should stay

April 6, 2008  06:28 PM ET

That is one long sentence, and it really makes little sense.

April 6, 2008  07:52 PM ET

He couldn't do any worse than Greg Oden.

April 6, 2008  09:35 PM ET

thats a racist thing to say
Dirk, Kidd, Ming all white hahahaha

April 7, 2008  12:17 AM ET

Love will be a great pro. He's just too complete a player. Other than speed of course. I'd take Kevin over Tyler any day of the week if I we're drafting.

April 7, 2008  12:17 AM ET

were drafting.

April 7, 2008  06:39 AM ET

Very true.. I'd take Love over Hansbrough any day. Now Collison, he got exposed. He's a nice little college player but he got dominated by an NBA player (Derrick Rose).

April 7, 2008  10:37 AM ET

Collison got posted up so much Saturday I thought they might hang a sign on him!

April 7, 2008  10:43 AM ET

The jury is out on Love. The fact that he is a real mature basketball player who knows how to pass, rebound and shoot (inside and out) speak positively for him. But, he's only 6'10", doesn't jump and doesn't have good quickness. His slow drives to the basket remind me of Larry Bird (how did he do it?), but Bird was 6'9" and played small fwd..... I think Love is a tweener. But, he may modify his game to be more like a Bill Laimbeer....since he's capable of shooting from the perimeter, plus bang people.... and is a much better passer than Laimbeer. I think NBA centers will probably eat him up, though. It's a little hard to say since he's so young. Might surprise me.

ucla bruins = buffalo bills

April 7, 2008  02:21 PM ET

UCLA Bruins = Buffalo Bills ONLY when the Bills go ahead and win 11 national titles. Until then, there is no comparison.
