White Sox eyeing third place?

Posted: Monday April 07, 2008 07:39AM ET

Privately, the White Sox think they'll be better than others think but don't believe they can contend with Detroit and Cleveland in the AL Central. So the main reason they were hoping Jose Contreras would get off to a good start (he didn't) was because they thought it would help to trade him.

Detroit is having all kinds of chemistry issues right now. Look at what the Twins did, all those years they weren't picked to win their division they won it. Chicago has enough talent to compete in the central.

Yankees had him and he crapped out in a WS game, he does not return to the Bronx, except in the visiting dugout.

what team doesnt think they can compete? does the newark star-ledger have a beat reporter on the white sox every day? give me a break.

Report Offensive Comment

Just for that I hope the White Sox win the Cental Division !!!

Good luck to Ken Williams in finding a way to unload Contreras. I'm sure some GM out there will be dumb enough to pull the trigger. (TRANSLATION: Omar Minaya, you'd better not even think of Contreras playing for the Mets or we will riot)

WHITE SOX WILL WIN AL CENTRAL. AND WORLD SERIES. MARK MY WORDS... WHEN BOSTON WINS IT. THE WHITE SOX GO RIGHT AFTER. SAME THING IN 1917. EXCEPT THE WHITE SOX WON BEFORE THE 1918 RED SOX.
2004 RED SOX AND 2005 WHITE SOX... 2007 RED SOX... 2008 WHITE SOX... COUNT ON IT

Does anybody really know how old he is? Im thinking Vegas should start taking bets and send somebody to Cuba to investigate the truth. My money is on 46.

Report Offensive Comment

his age isnt a problem , his problem is between his ears, hes a bit of a headcase, lets things effect him

Report Offensive Comment

haha I was just joking, referring to the way Tigers fans jeer on this site, not us humble sox fans

Report Offensive Comment

Surely, this time of the season, no team is eyeing third place.

Except maybe the Giants.

Uh, the season is less than two weeks old. Send this story to the future (maybe early September) and lets see where they are at.
