Lack of interest leaves Lito in limbo

If the Eagles really have "significant" offers for cornerback Lito Sheppard, as some suggest, then why haven't they made the trade? According to a very influential league source, who also knows the Eagles, there is no way they will get a No. 1 pick for Sheppard. Cincinnati, at No. 9 and New Orleans, at No. 10, are possibilities.

Settle for a #2 then...just make sure it's high. Why pay a bunch for someone that's a crapshoot.

...because "significant" is any offer at all, really. They're holding out for a "decent" offer, or, better yet, a "profound" offer. What they have gotten were "pedestrian" offers.
God bless the media and loaded terms.

Report Offensive CommentWell, you sign Asante Samuel and you're going to get pedestrian offers - why would anyone want to pay more than 3rd or 4th guy money for your 3rd or 4th guy? They should have came to terms with Samuel, dealt Sheppard, and then publicly announced their signing of Samuel. They shot themselves in the foot with this one - they're going to have to release him, or keep him.

Report Offensive CommentThere is no way that they would have been able to "hide" a signing or put off a signing on a high profile free agent like Samuel. They will get something for him on draft day, i hope a 1st round but i think they should be able to get a high 2nd round. You can not tell me that anyone is going to draft a better CB than Sheppard to step in right away and play now. When healthy, Sheppard is a pretty good corner.

Report Offensive CommentThis article is dumb and makes no sense. First off they didnt shoot themselves in the foot. Because if they keep sheppard, we will have the BEST secondary in the nfl no questions asked. Second This article says first...... source says there is no way they are getting a first round pick. Then second oh by the way NO or cincy could be an option. Yeah that makes sense. I believe there saving him for draft day for a trade. Maybe to move up in first or move up in the second round.

Report Offensive Commenteagles20, how would this be the best secondary in the NFL? You don't have anyone to play right corner. Neither of these guys has EVER played on the other side.
That is why that it was stupid for the Iggles to sign Samuel...they already have the same guy.
Maybe they can move up and draft McFadden to get broken with Westbrook, McNabb and the entire receiver corps. That is, afterall, the Iggle way.

Report Offensive CommentI'll tell you what the problem is with Lito Sheppard in one word- OVERRATED! Did they really think that they were gonna get the number one pick from Parcells for Lito Sheppard? You gotta love the media back east making everything into something that it has no chance of actually being.

Report Offensive CommentCINCINNATI IS NOT TRADING FOR LITO SHEPPARD!!!!! This is nothing more than media created BS because the Iggles want Chad Johnson and want to dump Lito Sheppard. WHY would Cincy need him since they spent their last 2 first round picks on Cornerbacks? I wish these damn journalists would actually research an issue before they speculate nonsense.

Report Offensive CommentInteresting comments to say the least. However, Lito has played on the right side and is not soley a left side cornerback. Lito is a very good cover corner and will take it to the house when he gets his hands on the ball. That being said, he has been injured quite often recently and that is obviously hurting his value. Well that and the fact that everyone knows the Eagles are trying to move him. Anyway, keep up the speculation as you guys are no better then the media you claim to hate. Come draft day someone will overpay for him and if not I will take the Birds three corners over pretty much any other teams in the league.

Because those corners you drafted blow.

They don't blow like that statement does. Leon Hall all rookie team. Johnathan Joseph highly talented cover corner. So how is it that 2 very young very talented young players blow? Oh that's right, they don't. Guess that moniker "Know It All" is a play on words. Like how we call a fat person slim or a short person stretch ...

Ever heard of Sheldon Brown, he is an extremely underrated corner, who has been playing right corner for a couple of years. Show me other teams that have a corner the caliber of Sheppard as their third CB.
