Bosh doesn't trust teammates

They have lost games and more often than not in the fourth quarter, they have lost their focus. Now comes the revelation from franchise player Chris Bosh that he lost trust in his teammates. As teams locked in on Bosh and forced the ball out of his hands, the three-time all-star admits he wasn't exactly sold on his teammates stepping up when he deferred. At least in the past two games, Bosh, when he reflects on the blown chances to put away Charlotte at home and New Jersey on the road, says he doubted shooters to make shots, which is understandable given the Raptors went a woeful 1-of-10 from three-point land in the final quarter on Saturday. "I have to do a better job of trusting my teammates,'' Bosh said yesterday as the Raptors essentially went back to drawing board in the wake of three successive losses to sub-.500 teams that have dropped Toronto (38-39) one game under .500.

Not entirely his fault... that franchise needs to get some help in the off season, its rediculous to have a franchise player and surround him with garbage...

April 8, 2008  10:30 AM ET

They also need a better coach; The players they got aren't all that bad, but play calling has been terrible; Especially right after timeouts; its pathetic

April 8, 2008  10:39 AM ET

I think a huge factor is Andrei Bargnani, he is the number 1 pick but he didn't really get better or get worse, he is just playing like he did last year. Some are calling it a sophomore slump but he better improve soon.

April 8, 2008  10:46 AM ET

If I was Bosh, I wouldn't completely trust most of those guys in on the team either. C'mon guys, let's get it together.

April 8, 2008  10:55 AM ET

The raptors should try to trade for a quality "side-kick" for Bosh like Orlando did with getting Howard, Rashad Lewis. I am thinking they should go after Maggette, Marion, or AK-47

Use TJ Ford and Bargnani as trade-bait.........................Heck anybody except Bosh

April 8, 2008  11:09 AM ET

Hm-m-m, sounds slightly familiar. Sounds a little "Kobesque"! I can recall when he was in the same situation as Bosh. He didn't trust his teammates either. Wonder if Bosh will be "nailed to the cross" for such an abomination!

April 8, 2008  11:16 AM ET

Bosh is justified in his thinking. Kobe had people around him capable of hitting shots, but wouldn't trust them.

April 8, 2008  11:38 AM ET

I'll probably get blasted for saying so, but I don't think Bosh is a 'franchise-caliber' player. He is VERY good, certainly a way above average talent. But he would be the better 'side-kick'

As far as him grumbling......I think it's a good thing that he cares enough to want his team to be better. I wish the players on my team (NY) gave a damn

I was thinking the same thing; maybe he feels it worked for Kobe, maybe it will work for me.

April 8, 2008  12:20 PM ET

I don't think Bosh is a franchise player either. He's good, very good. But is he even top 5 at his position(PF)? No.

April 8, 2008  12:42 PM ET

Bosh is better than Dirk.

Top 5? He's got some seriously stiff competition...
1) Duncan 2) Garnett 3) Stoudamire 4) Pau 5) Bosh/healthy o'neal/Brand

He's right up there.

April 8, 2008  12:48 PM ET

Bosh is better than Dirk? I don't know about that. And I don't know if Bosh is better than C. Boozer right now either. It's hard to judge Boozer because he plays with D. Williams, but I think Boozer still might be better.

April 8, 2008  12:49 PM ET

I would say the raptors have decent supporting cast, what they dont have is an inside presence to free up bosh. Bargnani (avg <4 RPG) and the rest of the crappy centers need to go for somebody that can bang down low and eat space. The combo of brezec/nesterovic/bargnani isnt getting it done

April 8, 2008  12:57 PM ET

Yes, Bosh is better. Dirk has way more help and Bosh's stats this year are either equal or better with the exception of PPG and APG (each 1 less).

Heres a fun trivia question who has a higher FG% and 3pt%?

Answer: Bosh

I didnt have anything agaisnt dirk until he won the MVP, that was a sham.

April 8, 2008  01:01 PM ET

I forgot, yes boozer is in that spot for #5, I just forgot about him. I would also add West to that list of PFs better than dirk.

April 8, 2008  01:01 PM ET

You do know Bosh has taken only 18 3PT's this year? So it's not fair to compare that. Dirk shouldn't have won MVP, but he is better than Bosh.

April 8, 2008  01:19 PM ET

Bosh is an MVP in the making, I can't tell you the high regard in which I hold this guy. Having watched him grow ince Tech, the guy is just a freak. He's developed a 3 pt shot and added it to his growing offensive reporitoire this yr. There's nothing he can't do effectively on the basketball court. He just needs to gel with his unit, get that chemistry they had before his unfortunate injury and lead this team.

The Raptors are an extremely exciting young team with a lot of components:

Calderon, TJ Ford, Bargnani (reminds me a lot of the early Dirk), Rasho, Delfino, A.Parker, J.Moon.\

Vrey entertaining young team that just needs time and patience.

It's sad how this season has unfolded for the Raps. Last year, every story was positive, from the resurrection of Sam Mitchell to the on-court performance of the franchise in ways we hadn't seen since Vinsanity's hey-day. Beyond that, the team chemistry was unquestionable. But the season ended with an underwhelming playoff round and this year has been two steps backward. No Garbo, Bargnani not progressing, TJ hurt then struggling to find his place, losses to sub .500 teams and blowing 17 point leads on a few occasions. Sad, sad, sad descent back into mediocrity...

His comments are really "Bosh league" !!!

I like Bosh and hope it works out for him. Meanwhile...IT'S LOVELY IN LAKERLAND!!!
