The Patriots yesterday agreed to a one-year contract with Victor Hobson, adding badly needed veteran depth to their linebacking corps. The five-year pro out of Michigan has spent his entire NFL career playing outside for the Jets, first in Herm Edwards' 4-3 defense and then in Eric Mangini's 3-4 alignment. However, the 6-foot, 252-pounder is considered highly intelligent and might take some reps inside with the Pats, where his squat build is less of a detriment than it is outside against long-armed tackles and tight ends. Hobson also is considered to be extremely tough, which is another requirement for playing inside under coach Bill Belichick.

Duh. He isn't a 3-4 OLB.........The Jets just had no one to play that spot. He is a 3-4 MLB hands down.
