Seton Hall denies Gonzalez rumors
Seton Hall took the bold and unusual move yesterday of issuing an unequivocal statement in support of men's basketball coach Bobby Gonzalez after several media outlets reported that his future would be addressed at a board meeting tomorrow. The Post reported Sunday that Gonzalez could be terminated as soon as this week and that his tenure would be discussed at a regularly-scheduled board meeting tomorrow. Reached on his cell phone in San Antonio yesterday, Seton Hall athletic director Joe Quinlan also used much more emphatic language than he did Saturday evening when first asked to comment on Gonzalez's future.

If Seton Hall fires him, I got a place for him on Union Turnpike. St. John's may have brought Roberts back but my campaign to get him fired hasn't ended yet.

If the Hall is talking about turfing Gonzalez after only two years, there;s got to be more to the story than just his won-lost record.
Maybe that explains why the Friars haven't made a hire yet. Gonzalez was a very popular assistant here, and he'd be reunited with Jeff xavier.
