Pat Riley expressed an interest in re-signing erratic Ricky Davis, even speaking of the ``kind of role we would expect him to play next year. For the last four or five years [he] has been a playmaker in his mind, a go-to guy. . . . In our exit meeting, I will give him a series of numbers to show why he might have to adapt his game with us.''

in an related story, the heat plan on tanking future seasons

April 9, 2008  08:05 AM ET

Fine Pat, if this is what makes you happy

April 9, 2008  08:15 AM ET

looks like the Heat are going to chace a PG this draft if they are looking to keep Davis around as a back up SG/SF just give him the pay cut he needs to make the Heat a much better side next year we would have 17mil next season if he and williams go. Pat mike the right decision this year. good to see that they had a win today with 4 rookies in the line up i hope we keep 1 or 2 around for a while and develop them

granted they land one of the top 2 picks (lets see if tanking is the key to success)

This guy will never accept being a role player. Remember, this is the guy who thought the Cavs were drafting LeBron to be a complement to him.....

April 9, 2008  10:24 AM ET

When was the last time this guy was on a winning team? He's a selfish player who isn't going to accept a "role".

April 9, 2008  10:41 AM ET

he's been in the league for 10 years already-
don't you think every coach he's had has wanted him not to be a pig?

Ricky Davis makes me angry with his presence.

April 9, 2008  12:08 PM ET

If Davis will accept a job as a role player, he can be an assett. Who else do the Heat have that can be counted on for double figures on a regular basis? Riley is a joke. The Heat need a front line. Who is a point guard going to pass to? Having said that, Riley will probably make another bonehead draft decision, and dig the hole a little deeper. What the Heat really need is a President and GM that knows what he's doing.

April 9, 2008  12:18 PM ET

the heat would be better off with me as their role playing point guard. i'll at least try to play team basketball. it never ceases to amaze me when guys like this keep getting jobs. they don't help and they don't come cheap.

u are expected to score no less than 16 ppg if u cant do that then u should be traded!

April 9, 2008  05:24 PM ET

Why is it that whatever team Davis plays for he gets no love ???

April 9, 2008  07:02 PM ET

Wait...Riley is still coaching Miami?

April 9, 2008  08:10 PM ET

a series of numbers?

We on Sesame St. or sumthin'?

April 9, 2008  09:22 PM ET

...wants Davis to return...to MINNESOTA!

April 9, 2008  10:21 PM ET
