Walker wants out of Minnesota
Posted: Wednesday April 09, 2008 07:03AM ET
The Timberwolves are five games away from wrapping up their season, but they put a bow on Antoine Walker's first season with the team a long time ago. Walker has not appeared in the past 25 games and hasn't traveled with the team for road games since late February. He didn't get his wish for a trade or a contract buyout (on his terms), but coach Randy Wittman said Walker has behaved professionally since Walker's buyout request. Walker has said he would like to be traded this summer to a team for whom he could play significant minutes. He's a veteran on a team trying to develop young players. But Wittman isn't ruling out a role for Walker with the Wolves next season. The coach said it depends on what happens in this summer's NBA draft and during free agency.

"Walker has said he would like to be traded this summer to a team for whom he could play significant minutes."
If he could not get playing time in lowly Minnesota, where would he get one? D-League?

Report Offensive CommentI think if a player want's a buyout, have them agree to leave the rest of their money on the table and let them walk away.

Report Offensive CommentYa, money talks. Significant minutes means 10, 20, 25 minutes? I don't know.

Report Offensive CommentBeggars can't be choosers, either pick a contender or pick the cash
If he doesn't get bought out, they could trade him as an expiring contract.

Report Offensive CommentWhy is this even a story? Walker is washed up. He got traded from Miami(who sucks) and can't get any minutes on one of the worst teams in the league. I understand that Minny is trying to develop younger players, but this guy is washed up. The only reason anyone would trade for him is his expiring contract.

Report Offensive CommentThere should be a huge market for an overweight, out of shape past-his-prime power forward who likes to crank up ill-advised 3's......... I bet his agent's phone is ringing off the hook

Report Offensive CommentWho does Walker think he still is, anyway?

Report Offensive CommentDude- who do you think you are?
you are not even in the top 100 best players in the league
Maybe if you play harder- check that-
maybe if you played defense AT ALL, your team would be better
and you wouldn't be whining about losing

Report Offensive CommentWhy am I not surprised that Walker can't get the job done and wants to leave so he can run away from the problem instead of being part of the solution? Why am I not surprised?

Report Offensive CommentIf he could get away from the buffet tables and get his fat butt in shape, he would probably find a home. Nobody wants an aging big that won't play defense, and never saw a shot he didn't like. With the contract he has, he should be happy to still be in the league.

Report Offensive Commenti lay the blame on the wolves here. why on earth would a rebuilding team add a guy like antoine walker? so they can teach the kids the wrong way to play the game? minnesota t-wolves arguably have the worst front office in professional sports.

Report Offensive CommentWASTE OF TALENT!!! the problem was early on in his career Walker got it into his mind that he could just stand behind the arc and chuck up 3's... never developed that low post game and forget about playing defense... he needs to just accept a small buyout and get back into shape

Report Offensive CommentI'm going to take the over on 300 pounds. What do you guys think?

Report Offensive CommentWalker is not washed up yet, Minn is just deciding to play the young guys instead of him. Just a couple of years ago he was a big part of Miami's championship. I think he still has a few good years left in him.
