Guillen claims ump hates him

Based on the last two times umpire Phil Cuzzi has worked behind home plate for a White Sox game, manager Ozzie Guillen has a strong feeling about what will happen. "I know I'm going to get ejected," Guillen said Wednesday, two days after Cuzzi ejected him for arguing balls and strikes for the second time in two seasons. "You can ask my bench coach as soon as I say, 'You're going to handle this game today because I know I'm going to be ejected' because that's how I feel about that situation." Guillen believes Cuzzi goaded him after arguing a called strike on Paul Konerko in the third inning of the Sox's 7-4 comeback victory over Minnesota. "He doesn't like me, I don't like him," Guillen said.

Is it me, or does this pic look like they are singing opera?

Make no mistake, I HATE the City of Chicago (what a dump) and all of it's sports teams. However, Ozzie is great. I would love to play baseball for this guy.

"ejected him for arguing balls and strikes for the second time in two second seasons." Arguing balls and strikes is still off limits with the umps, of course he is going to get ejected. If he wants to take the view that Phil Cuzzi is out to get him, then Bobby Cox should think that the whole MLB umpiring crew has his number.

Guillen claims ump hates him

Everyone hates him...

April 10, 2008  08:12 AM ET

Ozzie, I hate you, too!

April 10, 2008  08:15 AM ET

Every hurdle in the life of Ozzie is always someone trying to get him.

Every victory is his alone, a testament to his skill and incredible knowledge.

Talk less Ozzie, manage more.....

April 10, 2008  08:22 AM ET

Whatever Ozzie's feelings for this ump are, he is an absolute fool to publicly escalate the feud. How does this do anything but potentially hurt his team?? Pick your battles Ozzie

April 10, 2008  08:26 AM ET

Uh, Ozzie. Everybody "hates" you. You're annoying and ungrateful for this country has done for you.

NEWSFLASH: Ozzie Guillen says something controversial

April 10, 2008  09:32 AM ET

are they sure they translated it correctly from the language of Oz? Maybe he was trying to say he likes they guy or something.

April 10, 2008  09:42 AM ET

Note to Ozzie:
Umps throw you out for arguing balls and strikes, it is a rule and everything.

April 10, 2008  09:49 AM ET

<Phil> That ball was outside.

<Ozzie> Su madre es puta grande!

April 10, 2008  09:51 AM ET

Ozzie should look up the term "self-fulfiling prophecy."

If you going into a game thinking you're going to get tossed, you probably are. It's like thinking you're going to lose...you behave in a way that fulfills your prediction.

April 10, 2008  09:51 AM ET

How could anyone love Ozzie Guillen? The guy is a clown. He plays the race card, the hate card, every card possible. He is a disgrace to baseball and he always makes everything about him. He is my least favorite person in all of sports. If the Ump hates him, I don't blame him. I despise the guy.

April 10, 2008  09:55 AM ET

It is not only a rule it is supposed to be non-negotiaable. You argue balls and strikes you are supposed to be gone. The umps use a lot of common sense & latitude before enforcing this rule 99.909999999999% of the time. But like all people, if you push the wrong button too many times, and irk the ump off then "yer outta here!".
And just a note to Broadhead: Is there anything you don't hate? Man, I am glad I don't ahve to live in your world. I would wish you to have a nice day but you would probably hate that, too. :)

April 10, 2008  09:56 AM ET

Jayhawk, agreed. I give him all the credit he deserves for winning the WS a few years ago when no one expected it. Give the devil his due.

But it is ALWAYS about him, about making big deals out of nothing, making himself the victim when he gets quoted saying something stupid, blaming the media...he's a crybaby, not a tough guy.

No es muy macho.

April 10, 2008  10:03 AM ET

No offense to clowns, but Ozzie is a clown! I can't say that I hate him because he is irrelevant. Some managers and coaches know when to deflect attention away from the team and on to themselves for the good of the player or team. Ozzie just likes the attention.

April 10, 2008  10:05 AM ET

If he is no es muy macho then is he ??l es un hada?

April 10, 2008  10:06 AM ET

"el es un hada" is the phrase. dumb cut and paste thingy.

April 10, 2008  10:25 AM ET

As far as Ozzies WS, that does not make him a genius or a great coach. Look at what he's done since, with arguably better talent at times. Him winning a WS is just proof that every once in a while a blind squirell does find a nut.
