Kelly blames OU for poor time
Ex-Oklahoma standout wide receiver Malcolm Kelly wasn't happy with his pro day workout in Norman, Okla., on Wednesday and blamed part of it on OU. Kelly, who was a junior last season and declared himself eligible for the NFL draft a year early, ran the 40-yard dash in 4.68 seconds and 4.75 seconds. According to The Oklahoman, Kelly said he wasn't told by the OU strength staff until this morning that the location of the pro day had been moved from Astroturf in the Mosier Center to field turf inside the Everest Indoor Training Center. According to The Oklahoman story, Kelly said he had been preparing for the last month to test on Astroturf and was running the 40 in under 4.5 seconds on that surface.

What difference would it have made if he knew ahead of time?
I hope the Bills take a pass on this guy, we don't need a player who passes blame.

These players need to learn that their attitudes are what evaluators see. Blaming the turf, isn't a good look. He failed to impress overall, and the turf had nothing to do with it.

Maybe he didn't have enough of a tailwind at the FieldTurf place?
Or maybe his shoe sponsor makes better AstroTurf shoes instead of FieldTurf one?
Maybe the AstroTurf slants downhill more?

Agreed Hova,
This guy should be talking about his great hands. Remember Jerry Rice? He was said to be slow coming out of college too.

he doesn't realize that most games are played on surfaces OTHER than astroturf...do any fields still have astroturf? all astroturf does is inflate the time and scouts will tack on time to compensate...he should have kept his mouth shut...he looks worse now than with the time alone.

Will that really make that much of a difference? Besides I still think he is the first wide receiver picked in the draft.

The difference is.....hes been training on one and not the other! I dont like the sooners or whining athletes but when someone is told to train on a surface and then they switch it at the last moment, that will screw up a routine. Especially when a bad training session can mean millions of dollars.

Ok... I am a little curious here... Like most people... I think this kid **** and moaning absolutely makes him a typical JackHole... My question is this... Did every other guy at that Pro Day... Run 2 to 3 tenths slower than they did anywhere else???...(i.e. the Combine or some other published workout)... If so... Then maybe this guy has a leg to stand on... Otherwise... He just got caught... For bein lazy... Someone enlighten me here

it's always someone else's fault -- or it's because we don't understand his 'culture' -- no one wants to take personal responsibility anymore -- look at the vids of girls beating up others, and the guy who beat up that Chinese kid 'just because'

Proof the 40 is pointless and can be manipulated.

unless he has a trailer attached to his backside, it is irrelevant. trying to blame others, typical of the younger generation. you just go run. put one foot in front of the other as fast as you can and repeat steps as nessary. this kid is all ready showing a bad attitude by refusing to accept responsibility..... wow sounds like pacman, never his fault always someone else to blame.
