Plus-One BCS playoff unlikely
Bowl Championship Series commissioners are set to convene in late April in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The big news is nothing much is expected to happen. The Plus-One model for a modified playoff will be proposed, as promised by Southeastern Conference Commissioner Mike Slive, but the major conferences are still stalemated over the issue with four in favor and two opposed. The conferences against remain the Pacific 10 and Big Ten, which are firmly entrenched and have the benefit of a separate contract with the Rose Bowl and ABC that runs through the 2013 season. Unless the Pac-10 and Big Ten can be swayed, there probably will be no playoff before then.

I never got why this doesn't work-
Keep it EXACTLY as it is- 4 MAJOR bowls-
call it the same names, give the schools/conferences the SAME $ they would be getting .
But just add 1 more game (the +1) - to see who the champ is
They would Draw MORE viewers, because people would care about the other games.
And as far a who gets the $ from the championship.....?
- let them split it EVENLY amongst the 8 BCS teams-
this way EVERYONE wins

Playing off the idea of Crayton... The other conferences should enter into more lucrative deals with other networks that would cause the PAC 10 and "Big" 10 to change their minds about their own great deal... If they entered into the current arrangements solely on the basis of taking care of their own conferences, why don't the others give them a taste of their own medicine. Wouldn't we all love to see it. At least make them look bad until 2013 so they will come to the table with their tails between their legs.
