Johnson sets D-Backs return

A healthy Randy Johnson is scheduled to take the mound for the Diamondbacks for the first time this season Monday in San Francisco. In his most recent start for Triple-A Tucson on Tuesday, Johnson pitched well for six innings, throwing a fastball that reached 92 mph and effectively mixing in three other pitches. There's always a possibility that he could end up throwing harder when he gets into a game that counts.

Somebody get him a bucket of apples. he is even looks like he has a pony tail in this pic.

April 11, 2008  07:13 AM ET

I think he does have a pony tail, Whalers. It also looks like he's got one of those thin and dirty trailer beards.

What was he doing during the off-season? Mixing up crystal meth?

Anybody think this might be a good pickup for Fantasy leagues as a 5th or 6th guy on the roster...my pitching squad sucks on my Fantasy team but if he'll get me innings and a couple wins.....

April 11, 2008  08:09 AM ET

no no no, he'll perform good this time. remember he's not a yankee anymore.

April 11, 2008  08:25 AM ET

I would do it Tribe. Its worth a gamble.

Randy Johnson is a walking Jeff Foxworthy joke

April 11, 2008  09:49 AM ET

Yea, maybe that isn't a ponytail. Maybe it's an Arizona Mullet. Too thick to be a rat-tail.

April 11, 2008  09:53 AM ET

I'm thinking about it Whalers. I have one guy, can't even remember his name he's so bad, that I could drop to make room for him. If he bombs I can always just drop him again and find some other scrub. At least Johnson has a decent track record.

I think he was runnin' shine with Uncle Jesse!

I wish this galoot would go away. His tenure in NY proved to me what kind of player he is. Go back to your small market and rack up your wins and K's...

April 11, 2008  12:18 PM ET

probably he should just hang it up -- face up to his deteriorated body -- remember how he was, not how he's become
