New focal point of Vols' offense
Gerald Jones has emerged as a focal point of Tennessee's new offensive scheme. Under the gameplan of first-year UT offensive coordinator Dave Clawson, the Vols are attempting to utilize their most talented players by finding creative ways to get them touches. Jones ranks as the top priority. UT Coach Phillip Fulmer went as far as to tell his offensive coaches that Jones did not receive enough touches in Saturday's scrimmage. Jones isn't complaining. He said he hopes to make up for the time lost last season and is hoping to once again line up at quarterback -- in what's become known as the G-Gun -- many more times.

They always say get the ball to your best player; let's see if it works as a Philosophy as opposed to a strategy.

Let's hope it works. In the past, Coach Fulmer has given the ball to the players he feels most loyal to and not necessarily the best players. This has been detrimental to us at times. All positions should be open competition this year, especially QB, RB, and CB.
