Mitchell Report players get off free

Four months after George J. Mitchell released his report on the use of performance-enhancing drugs in baseball, Major League Baseball and the players union agreed on Friday to amend the sport's drug-testing policy for the third time in four years. The revised testing program will increase the number of random tests and increase the powers of the administrator who will oversee the testing. The agreement will mean that the players named in the report will not face suspensions or fines. Active players named in the report, however, will be forced to perform some type of community service designed to educate youths about the dangers of using performance-enhancing drugs.

They broke the Law. Got caught, and get no punishment. Looks like the convicts are running the prison. Way to stand your ground Selig and show some backbone. Bud new catch phrase, you do the crime, in MLB you get no time.

Jimmy: I know now, that even if you do win on steroids, you're really not winners. You're just a p-****: you're just a big fat p-p-****. And if you take steroids, the only decent thing to do is come forward and say, "Remove me from the record books, because I am a big, stinky p-****, steroid taking jackass.

so what was the point in naming all these guys ... simply to embarrass them and their families? ... maybe to drive down their salaries next time up? ... or just to beat up on theYankees, knowing that the media would jump on those names primarily.
