Weis following Irish to Frozen Four

Irish football coach Charlie Weis, an avid hockey fan in his formative years, is headed to Denver on Saturday to take in the NCAA Championship game between the Irish and Boston College. "It's too big a game to miss," Weis said after practice Friday, adding that his wife Maura will accompany him. In fact, Weis threw a few bouquets at Irish hockey coach Jeff Jackson and his club on Friday night, especially when asked if the Irish hockey team's turnaround could be an inspiration for getting the football club out of the mire. The Irish were 5-27-6 in 2004-05, the year before Jackson arrived, and three springs later they are playing for a national title.

The Warden.... I can only assume your hatred for all things Notre Dame goes beyond your better judgement. If I was a Michigan fan I would be embarrassed to see comments like that next to my schools logo.

Gariboy,

I actually only have ill feelings for ND football. I actually praised ND for a great showing on Thursday somewhere else though they got lucky with UM's goalie having a total meltdown in the first period and allowing two goals that should have been stopped.

And since I don't represent UM and just merely a fan to-- which you fully know, I think you should set your sights on more important things in life other than the acerbic posts I write, but thanks for caring cuz caring is sharing!

Charlie Weis needs a health food counselor before he becomes a balloon in the next Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. Good heavens!

Warden - I watched the hockey game, ND didn't get "lucky" when they beat the #1 seed michigan. They were in control more of the game. michigan did have a nice 2 period.

Take a look at who ND beat to get to the big game.

"GO BC! Treat those ND boys just like those perverted priests treated all those young boys..ie R A P E ND in the finals!" - The Warden

I think you need help.

Sexton,

It always amazes me how so many have a reading comprehension problem. Go back and re read what I wrote. I didn't type ND got lucky with the win. I typed they got lucky in the first period with the 2nd and 3rd goals due to a very poorly playing Sauer.

Got get checked for myopia.

Man oh man... I can't wait until ND takes on William and Mary.... For ladies broom hockey... Talk about watching the fur fly

For all you sports fans who liked Slap Shot, one of the Hanson brothers son's now plays for ND! Also, ND beat a very good Michigan team to get to the finals, saying it was lucky only cheapens both teams being there! I'm sure Michigan had some luck along the way as well!

Fan or not it might help him improve his image at the school where his team was pretty bad last year and many blamed him.

April 13, 2008  09:28 AM ET

Weis had better stay focused on football.
