Major injury for Penn State LB?

Penn State linebacker Sean Lee suffered what is feared to be a major knee injury during a Friday spring practice session. Lee, a senior who had started the past 26 games and was being touted as an All-America candidate, following in the footsteps of Paul Posluszny and Dan Connor, had his right knee buckle as he attempted to stop during a play yesterday. The injury wasn't the result of contact with another player. Lee is expected to have an MRI on the knee today, although the early diagnosis was ligament damage.

That just sucks. What a loss. PSU can't catch a break. I think all of this bad news coming from PSU is evidence from God that he wants Joe Pa to leave.

Maybe getting a medical red shirt for this year will turn out to be to his advantage; 2009 - 2010 new coach??????

Yeah I would apply for the medshirt...

I just hope this isn't as bad as it appears. I'm a StateHater, but no players deserve to get hurt in any way.
This could be almost as bad as The Cleveland Browns signing of all pro center LeCharles Bently only to have him get hurt on the first few plays of practice during non contact drills and his career may be over.
Let's hope this isn't the case.

That's unfortunate.

Not cool. I think one of the LB's behind him (Bowman) is suspended or in some sort of trouble too.

April 12, 2008  05:22 PM ET

It's official, he's out for '08. This could be big.

I am not a fan of the Nittany Lions but still you hate to see this happen to a player.

Probably one of the most devastating things to hear in college football. Sean Lee is one of those rare individuals / players that comes along in a generation. Competitive, true athlete, and a role model on and off the field. If what we hear about him is true, he will get over this injury, and come back in 2009 as one of the best college linebackers ever. Remember Jimmy V. Sean- Never, ever give up. Good luck and god speed Sean Lee!!

It's a blow for sure to the Nittany Lions. Then again, there is always another waiting in the wings for their opportunity to step into the spot light. PSU has always been "Linebacker U" throughout the Paterno years. The Lions recruited a few 4-star stud linebackers (Brandon Beachum,Mike Zordich and Michael Mauti) in the 2008 class who could get playing time this fall.

I also have to laugh at a previous comment made that "all of this bad news coming from PSU is evidence from God that he wants Joe Pa to leave. "How ridiculous is that!?!?! LOL.

This is a big loss. Lee is Penn State's second best defender behind Maurice Evans and the Big Ten's top linebacker. They were really counting on him to step up. But, at least it is linebacker U and they always have a guy waiting in the wings to step up.
