Ozzie's ump rant draws big fine

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen wasn't surprised at the hefty, though undisclosed, fine he received Friday from Major League Baseball for harsh words against umpire Phil Cuzzi, who ejected Guillen on Opening Day for arguing balls and strikes. Guillen's punishment was more severe because of his public comments Wednesday about Cuzzi, who also sparred with Guillen last July 31 in New York over a check-swing call. Guillen wrote his objections to MLB but was resigned to the outcome.

I have watched a couple of White Sux games this year. I think Ozzie has a legit gripe boys. The strike zone hasn't been consistent.

This is a very good team that has been over looked by the Tigirls and Indians. I think this team could win the division.

Give him some lessons on maturity Ken----Just a thought..

April 12, 2008  10:49 AM ET

let the ozzie hatefest begin...

April 12, 2008  11:02 AM ET

Ozzi may be a good manager, but he acts like a whiny baby more often than a mature adult. He may have a gripe about the strike zone, but there is a proper and improper way to handle it. Acting like a whiny baby in the media is not the way to get anyone to like you or respect your point of view.

As a young lady I went to school said "If you keep saying that you think I hate you, eventually you will be right."

Ozzie is an ****-clown, and I wonder if the ump could even understand what he was yelling, probably not.

April 12, 2008  12:12 PM ET

Ben*d over and take it, Ozzie.

April 12, 2008  12:31 PM ET

Ozzie Guillen is the biggest clown in all of sports. This guy makes me sick. He thinks he is God's gift to baseball. I wish the White Sox would fire him, so I dont have to listen to his dumba** anymore.

April 12, 2008  01:19 PM ET

yes i wish we had a manager that just sat there and argued nothing, got ran over all the time and NEVER spoke his mind.....THAT EXACTLY THE MANAGER I WANT ON MY TEAM.....

are you kidding me? people complain about a guy who stands up for what he sees wrong...he has moree balls than the people talking trash about him on this site...there maybe a handful of managers that speak themselves and he is one of them....if thats makes him a clown sissy "gods gift to baseball" or whatever insult you throw his way then your just an idiot...i've never heard more crimeany on one guy for standing up for his team himself and what he feels is right....IT AMERICA PEOPLE! choke a fat one

April 12, 2008  02:02 PM ET

I was checking the odds on Ozzie Guillen having a heart attack... On the diamond...The over/under is 4 years... I took the Under

April 12, 2008  02:52 PM ET

its funny, the fine was UNDISCLOSED.....yet the title says he drew a big fine....good old SI writers proving their great reporting skills...

April 12, 2008  03:01 PM ET

YOU TELL HIM OZZIE

April 12, 2008  03:24 PM ET

Ozzie can't be too upset with the calls in today's game. They are knocking around the Tigers again, but then again, who isn't?

April 12, 2008  04:44 PM ET

They need a machine to call that stuff. Also legalize some kind of sports betting or something to help the small market teams.

The pale hose? Went to a game and they looked decent. They lost though and that bothers some people....

April 12, 2008  05:53 PM ET

Ozzie has some deep seeded personal issues against everyone and brings them to the ballpark, in short, he is a joke. For the White Sox fans he is fun to watch, not because he cares about his players, Ozzie only cares about himself, but because he is a clown. An over rated clown in uniform!

April 12, 2008  06:18 PM ET

I can't say enough bad things about Guillen - He is one egomaniac !!!

How do we define these individuals who make these previous comments about the first latino manager who won a championship in MLB history?

I don't understand such hatefulmess! Do you have any personal story wtih Ozzie that we need to know? Otherwise, you are in a wrong forum to express your racism. This one is about MLB.

You missed the most important one that make you suffer so deeply .... The city of the 2005 MLB Champions, Chicago White Soxs!!! I don't know but Ozzie raise these rare feelings in men who are not sure about their virility. I recommend you can ask Jay Marrioti what he did to mitigate his frustrated desires about Ozzie Guillen.

April 12, 2008  07:57 PM ET

I love Ozzie, the umps GAVE the Indians the opening day game, and that was gust the start. Someone needs to tell it like it is. Umps can make bad call after bad call and like a retarded child you can't criticize them.
