Vincent making NFLPA power play?

NFL owners are smiling this week. As they gear up for war with the NFL Players Association, a crack has been exposed in the union. Political infighting in the NFLPA could provide owners with more incentive to opt out of the collective bargaining agreement as soon as November and set up an uncapped year in 2010. All of this would present the possibility of a strike in 2011. Ravens player representative Matt Stover sent an e-mail to player reps last week. In it, Stover said to prepare immediately for a "change in leadership." What has become apparent is the NFLPA is not unified in its support of executive director Gene Upshaw. Of course, this is not earth-shattering news because no union is behind its leadership 100 percent. But there may be enough opposition to create problems. A source familiar with the situation says Stover is acting at the behest of former NFLPA President Troy Vincent. When Vincent's term as president ended in March, the source says, the free agent was hoping to be hired as Upshaw's eventual successor and have his guy, Eagles safety Brian Dawkins, elected as president. Neither happened, so now the Vincent faction apparently is attempting a coup.

Why don't they elect a president every four years. That way you don't have power struggles.Gene has done a good job,but he's been there for a very long time and his ideas are the same. This way you have a change of ideas.Maybe we the Fans could start our own commety. That wy we could lower ticket price for those who have never been to a game due to there income.Lower prices of food and drinks that way a family could afford to feed there children at the game. That way little boys and girls who grow up to be fans of the NFL can wear the uniforms of there favorite team.

I think the union and players won't know what a good job he's done until he's gone. I wonder how Deion Sander's commentary would be next year if someone like Matt Stover took over? It might be something like, "well the white guy can't get it done like Gene did." That being said because he was soo proud that two black coaches made it to the superbowl last year. -Deion's just like that and so is Emmit. To Gene's accountabillity though, he's done a great job in keeping players around. Defending Pacman, T.O., Moss, Sapp during times when their jobs could have suffered much more. How'd you like to have a job representing gangstas? Gene was not only a force to be reckoned with on the field, but he's also proven to be one off.

Upshaw is nothing but the owners house boy.

Nah, I think less of Goodell who's more of a momma's boy. Gene kicks butt. How'd you like to have a job in which you fight for the rights of gangsta's?
