Should Favre just shut up?

This is meant in the nicest possible way and no disrespect is intended, but Brett Favre needs to shut up. Please, Brett, no more rambling about the prospect of coming out of retirement. No more thinking out loud about the pros and cons of returning. No more speculation in response to hypothetical questions. Even the hint Favre might play again will send certain fans and media outlets over the edge. It's not inconceivable that some people will root for Aaron Rodgers to get hurt. Intended or not, Favre's comments added to Rodgers' heavy burden. It's difficult enough following a legend, but it will become harder if there's a perception Favre is waiting in the wings.

Yes, Bret needs to shut up. Everytime he mentions coming out of retirement, John Madden puts his wedding gown back on.

Sounds like Packer fans are finally catching up to what the rest of us have been saying for a while now.

(Insert Frank Caliendo voice here) "Here's a guy that doesn't get it!"

Stop asking hypothetical questions! Media asks them, Brett answers them, then an article like this gets written. Maybe the questions should be "Brett stop talking to the media because they WANT to write this stuff.

A very smart person called 4 a drama queen here the other day. I really used that on someone else so thanks.

No, but Farve is the kind of person who just has to keep going for success or what seems to be right even if there is a cornerback or safety sitting on the route. Even if there is no shot to take. On the field, everyone showed him the game was over.

Who will show him now?

April 13, 2008  08:55 AM ET

His ego is making him look like a five year old.

Way to go Brett.

April 13, 2008  08:59 AM ET

It may just be a case that all those years of shots and beers and pain killers scrambled his brains so much that the guy is not capable of making a decision or coherent thought processing?

Brett needs to find a hobby and quickly.

April 13, 2008  09:07 AM ET

YES-
Less Favre talk and more DRAFT talk-

April 13, 2008  09:43 AM ET

Are we going to get a constant dose of Brett Favre stories even in retirement? What's wrong, didn't Pacman Jones get arrested this week?

April 13, 2008  09:45 AM ET

you guys know, once he gets that prilosc in him he gets all antsy in his pantsy

April 13, 2008  09:51 AM ET

If you say you'rer retired you're retired. He tends to just be way too honest. I think he needs to get some interview lessons from Nick Sabon on how to lie like hell.

Exactly all he does is answer the media's questions, so he shouldn't shut up he should just stoptalking to the media.

April 13, 2008  09:57 AM ET

He really should shut up. Just stop talking to the media. It's not like they have you at gunpoint.

April 13, 2008  10:05 AM ET

YES! FAVRE, SHUT THE **** UP!

April 13, 2008  10:08 AM ET

No, he got pushed out the door.

April 13, 2008  10:09 AM ET

I'm ok with Brett and his recent comments.....no big deal. It's probably much more of a case of the MEDIA blowing up some flip comments, rather than Brett truly thinking about making a comeback already...

Maybe the Media and Farve. He should do one or the other.Life is about choices and his is up.Make it and live with it.
