Report Offensive CommentYou get the feeling the Broncos are making moves short term out of desperation more than anything? This is Shanahans last year if it does not go well. I think the owner is starting to see through the hype of this guy and realizes draft failures for the last many years have caught up with them.
I will say it one more time. The Broncos have won one play off game since Elway left in 98. Shanahan has rode that horse about as far as it will go..

Report Offensive CommentThis is Shanahans last hoorah. He will be gone after this season.

Report Offensive CommentYes, 50 year and all..but in the words of a Cowboy fan, our winning percentage is not bad over the last decade. Broncos' schedule is not too bad this year. Stronger divisional rivals and embarrassment will close the coffin -- there has already been enough happen to kill this guy.

Report Offensive CommentSamie Parker would be a good pickup, but Darrell Jackson? WASHED UP! And no, Bowlen won't fire Shanny. The only way he's gone after this year is if he decides that he is gone.

Report Offensive CommentAfter looking at this picture of "psycho" Shanahan if I was a receiver I would stay as far away from him as possible !!!

Report Offensive CommentDarrell Jackson? They must be desperate!
PackBrew42 | 04/14/08, 11:30 AM
Report Offensive CommentDarrell Jackson isn't THAT bad. He's not elite, but it's not like the Broncos are looking for a #1. Look who Jackson had throwing to him this year, and being slated as the 49ers #1 WR means he had the best corner on the opposing team marking him--while also having a piss-poor QB lobbing the ball to him. His #'s in Seatle are also back when they were more of a run-based team so it's not like he was a primary target there either--Hackett, Branch, and Burleson were all there for his last year as a Seahawk and he still had 950 Yards and 10TD's (Branch and Hackett each had at least 600 as well, Engram only played half the year)
As a #2 with an actual quarterback throwing the ball to him he has a shot to put up the same numbers he had in Seatle. 900 yards and 10TD's....
--I'm less psyched about Parker.

Report Offensive CommentI'm not sure what they are doing here......they have plenety of depth at the WR position. They can do what they need to do in the draft. WR is not their main concern DT and LB are. Some may argue that they need a saftey, because of Lynch. Lynch is not going anywhere. He'll play one more year------Is motor is fine.

Report Offensive CommentForskins ...Well said. I am just glad I am not a Bronco fan. It was hell being a Giant fan with that phony jerk Fassel for those years....He will either have his front office duties pulled from him next year, or just let go..
50yearfan | 04/14/08, 01:51 PM
Report Offensive CommentHe won't be let go 50yearfan. Bowlen has essentially annointed him coach for life. His GM duties should be pulled, but he won't get fired as the Broncos coach. He means way too much to the organization and the city of Denver, and he and Pat Bowlen are way too good of friends. Regardless of whether you think he is a good coach or not, Bowlen isn't going to fire him.
wtnelson | 04/14/08, 03:07 PM
Report Offensive Commentwtnelson ..You may be right. I do think he is a good coach, but he is sooo bad at evaluating talent and needs through the draft that he has left himself with a mediocre group to coach. And the fault is all his..Free agency only works for teams that are one or two playmakers away from being a top team. I know they had a very good record two years ago, but so did the Bears. Bowlen can do what he wants, but to let Shanahan keep so much power only hurts the organization. Even Holmgren ( who is twice the coach in my book ) had to give up power. It is too much for one person. Ego is his problem. If Kansas City and Oakland were not so dysfunctional right now, the results would be much worse..It is an structural problem from within. There is no checks and balance on this guy, and nobody knows everything..
50yearfan | 04/14/08, 04:21 PM
Report Offensive CommentLet's keep in mind that this same coach that is also in charge of personnel brought in DJ Williams, Cutler, Elvis Dumervil, Darrent Williams (RIP), Dominique Foxworth, Selvin Young, Andre Hall, Brandon Marshall, Tony
Scheffler, the list goes on and on. This team wouldn't even have a chance if it weren't for Shanahan. Granted we haven't been winning games, but we're planning for the future. The Broncos sucked under Elways his first few years. Give this young team the time to grow and we'll be just fine. It's a double edged sword, you bring in great personnel and it's all Sundquist, but Shanahan had to approve EVERYTHING, which means Shanny made those moves.
Don't count the Broncos out yet.

Report Offensive CommentGetting both would be a coup for the team and upgrade the WR corp significantly

Report Offensive Comment50yearfan- You basically repeated what I was saying. Shanny needs to have his GM duties pulled.

Report Offensive CommentAny help is good help for this team. Two weeks ago we heard they (Broncs) were strapped for cash. Just goes to show Shanny is getting whacky trying to scrape the bottom of the barrel.
