'Bitter' Monroe returns to Motown
Posted: Tuesday April 15, 2008 06:51AM ET
Twins outfielder Craig Monroe used the word "bitter" to describe his sentiment toward the Tigers on Monday, so it's fair to say he will be especiall y motivated if manager Ron Gardenhire sticks with his plan to play Monroe tonight. "I'm excited to see those guys and talk to them," Monroe said. "I'm also excited to get a chance to do some damage and beat them, too." Monroe had 28 home runs and 96 RBI for Detroit in the 2006 regular season, then hit five more homers that postseason. But they designated him for assignment last August, when he was batting .222, then traded him to the Cubs.

Report Offensive CommentI am unaware of Craig's amazing exploits on the diamond since leaving the Tigers. It appears that sending him to the Cubs was not a bad move. One of Detroit's problems is that his replacement, Jacque Jones, is not any better. I guess that the LF situation in Detroit is a wash at this point.

Report Offensive CommentHe should be happy he is not on the Tigers thus far this season. The Tiger clubhouse does not look like fun right now.

Report Offensive Commentcraig monroe has no room to complain...he sucked for the cubs too...it just so happened we were loaded with outfield depth anyhow so we didnt really need him....but he sucked anyways when he was playing...
he had to have been batting less than 222 with us...

Report Offensive CommentBitter? For what? His batting average with the Tigers was .235. He's got the classic "swing at ball 4" and "swing at curveballs in the dirt" problems. I'm in my 40's and I swear I could take the field today and be a better ball player than this guy will ever be.

Report Offensive CommentGlad he's gone, now if Detroit can get rid of Rondey the blow game joke that would help.Rondey remines me of Spooky Andersons shower buddy Henneman. Henneman could come in with a lead and blow it. I saw him gave up home runs after home runs just like Rondey is doing now.

Report Offensive CommentC-Moe those were the days, hitting clutch home runs agaist the Yankees-- i wish that could have lasted

Report Offensive CommentI'm assuming thunderdragon meant Fernando Rodney, which is confusing considering that he's on the DL right now.
Also, why wouldn't C-Mo be bitter? He did play a big role in bringing us back into respectability. I remember that home run that he hit in the top of the 9th against the Yankees in a game towards the end of the 2006 regular season. So clutch.

Report Offensive CommentRondey is one of the worst picther in their history. Thank GOD he's on the DL Detroit would not have a win yet. When he comes in the game is over,he win gave up more runs that Carter has pills. I see him come in I leave knowing he will blow it again.

Report Offensive CommentWhen he's on, he's got one of the best changeups in the game. That pitch is no joke, and anybody who knows baseball recognizes it. He had a 3.52 ERA, a 1.186 WHIP, and 65 strikeouts in 71 innings in 2006. There's nothing wrong with that. I don't know what game you were watching, but it sure left a bad taste in your mouth.
I would respond more to your comment, but your spelling is just atrocious. I have no idea what your third sentence is even supposed to say.

Report Offensive CommentRondey sucks son I seen the best of the best play. Not like these pill popping drug takeing cheats that play today. I was drafted by Pittsburg back in 71 but the Army got me first. I know the game and pitchers and he sinks.

Report Offensive CommentRight, OK thunderdragon. Why don't you go over to Baseball Reference and tell us who you are: http://www.baseball-reference.com/draft/?franch_ID=PIT&year_ID=1971&draft_type=junreg
Sheff can't play in the field. It should be Cabrera in left. Leave Maggs where he is and bring Inge back to third.
