Michigan questionable at QB

Barring an unforeseen run at the job by a player from another position -- RB Carlos Brown, WR Junior Hemingway and S Brandon Smith are potential darkhorses -- someone within the trio of Steven Threet, Nick Sheridan and Justin Feagin will emerge as the team's starting QB for 2008. After striking out on five-star quarterback recruit Terrelle Pryor in 2008, Michigan is once again focused on trying to bring in a highly touted dual-threat signal caller. The Wolverines looked to be in good shape early on with Texas' Russell Shepard (Rivals.com's No. 4 overall player in the class of 2009), but Les Miles secured a commitment from the athletic quarterback when he visited Baton Rouge.

Michigan will be fine, they'll get someone good.

The best QB's often come out of nowhere.

Really?

I thought that a switch from a traditional style offense to a spread-option offense would be as smooth as silk.

See all you UM haters out there, there is finally a post dedicated to the obvious.
Yes, UM has NO QB. Well, they have qb's just no one skilled to run RR style to it's fullest extent. We have a a kid who is mobile but not a great passer and a pretty good passer who isn't too mobile or good throwing while mobile. There is one kid coming in who is the runner/passer RR likes who was third runner up for Mr. Football in Florida.

Michigan offense WILL be highly questionable. But the season hasn't started yet and someone will step up and lead. I am predicting at least 5 loses this year.

As for the future of the team, the odds are that RR will make UM such a force to be reckoned with that many of you will commit hari kari rather than just admit UM is frickin awesome team.

Btw, let's keep this in perspective. Even if Lloyd came back, the team still would have been in the same position after losing so many starters.

My early shocker UM continues streak against PSU....

April 15, 2008  10:50 AM ET

84,

For all the problems that UM is facing at QB, I am glad it's not the problems that PSU is facing with it's players/HC and over all team morale.

For all the changes at UM and the departure of Boren, the team for the most part are embracing the change and actually enjoying it (a lot of it due in part to Mike Barwis and his chocolate milk).

There still might be a few more players that might leave by end of the semester..we'll see.

xxx84xxx, you're really going out on a limb there, considering scUM has beaten penn state 9 times in a row. What's next? a prediction that the sun will set in the west?

April 15, 2008  10:57 AM ET

I honestly think that people forget how great of a program UM is, and you know Im a Buckeye.

They have had a few disappointments the past couple years, but for a group of guys like last year to WANT to come back for their senior year inthis day and age, speak volumes of the prode those kids up there have, that wont change from coach to coach, thats why I dont think Um will be down long, if at all...

For as much as they are different Um and OSU share alot of the same qualities whether or not fans want to admit that or not. We will see what happens next year, but I was always taught not to mess with a wounded dog...

Given the off season and the amount of talent PSU has, if the Nittany Lions dont get them this year it could be a while.

Team success goes in cycles. UM and OSU are no different. I know many OSU fans have done their best to forget that John Cooper ever existed. :P

April 15, 2008  11:12 AM ET

*scratches head and wonders why UM fans starting firing against PSU fans and not OSU fans* IF UM got Pryor, they might not have been in this situation...

April 15, 2008  11:18 AM ET

believe it or not for some strange reason people in Cbus still like Cooper, just not as the coach of course!

April 15, 2008  11:37 AM ET

Any Div. I AA opponents on the schedule?

April 15, 2008  11:37 AM ET

Stormin Normin,

It was an OSU fan that brought up PUS first.

April 15, 2008  11:39 AM ET

I dont know about UM but OSU has the juggernaut known as Youngstown State again, lol.

April 15, 2008  11:45 AM ET

Oh and Pryor wont be the end all be all of QB's, a freshman cant carry a team like Michigan
