Schilling denies NY interest

When Curt Schilling got up yesterday in Cleveland, he was surprised to hear of the brouhaha involving him back in Boston. He said he had no idea that his doctor, Craig Morgan, had gone on WEEI radio and said that Schilling might be interested in pitching for the Yankees next season. "It's a non-issue," Schilling said. "It really never should have even unfortunately been a discussion. From what I understand, it was a big deal. I mean, I had no idea. I woke up and thought they were kidding. "Only in Boston." Schilling wasn't all that interested in talking about the comments, though he did tell WEEI later in the morning that signing with the Yankees was "not an option."

"though he did tell WEEI later in the morning that signing with the Yankees was "not an option."

That's what everyone says until they sign with the Yankees.

There is no way the Yanks would want that GI-NORMOUS, fake bloddy sock wearing, pompous wind bag, blog too much, over oppinionated, self serving, ego maniac, and over all jerk. Quite frankly I would rather have the Yanks sign Pavano back. Not to mention I may pitch more then he will this year.

Tody Schilling will launch a 25,000 word blog to say, quote: "No, I am not interested in the Yankees." End Book

Doctor, doctor, get his ankle bleeding then let him swim off Figi.

April 16, 2008  08:18 AM ET

Cant believe the nerve of this guy talking about pitching next year when he cant even get his act together to pitch this year yet. Especially after just saying a few months ago that he wanted to only pitch one more year. Earn the tons of money you just got first.

April 16, 2008  08:27 AM ET

he's just excited cause the pinstripes are slimming

It takes a special kind of someone, someone who is self-absored, selfish, self-centered, loud and boorish to make us New Yorkers look good. Thank You Curt!

April 16, 2008  08:51 AM ET

Holy Crap! Look everyone- another Boston/Yankee baseball headline! Man- that makes it oh, like every flacking day on FN? Seriously, aren't there other MLB teams out there and well- maybe some better stuff? All I need now is another fragging Conseco headline and I might have to throw my computer out the window...

==================

He had nothing to do with the story getting told on the radio. Sure, he can be self-absorbed and annoying - and I am no Schilling defender - but lets calm down a bit here.

No need anyway. New Yorkers always look good.

I doubt anyone wants Schilling at his point. Not even the Red Sox. :) I agree, Whalers, he gots some balls talking about next year when this year ain't even in the books and what has he done for his employer so far this year? Damn, did the Sox just sort of take a sucker punch by Mr. Bravado? I know it is a part of the game when a team signs someone that that someone may get "injured" but I wish there was some justice and humilation for players like Schilling , and, yes, for an even worse case, Pavano (ugh!). I just don't like that feeling that they are pulling a fast one.

April 16, 2008  09:03 AM ET

Another Boston Globe jem. There must be something else they could talk about. But it appears the yankee's direction for pitching will be youngsters in 2009. Hughs, Kennedy, Chamberlain, Ohlendorf, etc. with a couple of veterans mixed in, Pettitte, Wang, I don't see room for this guy, how old is he 43? maybe we can bring david wells back. (sic)

April 16, 2008  09:05 AM ET

not even a big mouth boor like Curt can make a yankees fan look good.

April 16, 2008  09:08 AM ET

Is he still getting the "weight" bonus is what I want to know.

He doesn't want the Yankees and the Yankees don't want him, what a great match.

April 16, 2008  09:11 AM ET

Hell, I'd take Clemens back over Schilling.

Wow, thats a loaded statement.....

April 16, 2008  09:14 AM ET

This is a non issue. First of all, Schilling is as useless as the bloody tampon that made him relevant in Boston. Move on Curt, become an ANALyst and keep what little (if any) dignity you have left.
