USC's starting QB will be...

The only surprise about the outcome was the timing, not the decision. Mark Sanchez finished USC's quarterback competition Tuesday in the same place he started it -- as the acknowledged leader. Offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian made it official before practice when he met with Sanchez, Mitch Mustain and Aaron Corp individually and told them that Sanchez, the fourth-year junior, was the No. 1 quarterback.

Sanchez deserves his shot, he should have been playing last year instead of Booty. USC could be good this year with good QB play.

Who cares? 2005 National Title??? Oh yea, Hook 'em horns, Baby!!!

JK. USC is always stacked and does the best job recruiting, even if they pay.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens with DE Jackson, DT Ellis, OLB Rivers, CB Thomas, QB Booty, OT Baker gone. We go through this every year but most of these guys were a big part of all they USC runs.

Ha, that all goes back to ONEPEAT!!!!!

I hate FUSC just as much as anyone, but I respect them, and should the dream matchup with LSU and FUSC ever unfold, we would have to bring our A game to win.

The Dirty Sanchez era has started! All Hail Dirty Sanchez! I hope he takes a BIG DUMP all over OSU just like UF and LSU did.

Sanchez over Booty? Get serious. Sanchez was not good last year when he got the chance. He was only OK. Hopefully next year he will be that good, but I have reservations. If Mustain's decision making improves, things could change. Carroll is just making sure that he lines up the pecking order to avoid controversy & problems with the team (which is smart).... but he will change is mind in a heartbeat if he thinks Mustain gives them a better chance to win.

Gonna lose to OSU whoever they go with!

April 16, 2008  11:09 AM ET

It's Sanchez but I still like Mustain.

Meh.

CLASSY.....HOW OLD ARE YOU???? 13 ???

April 16, 2008  11:31 AM ET

bkg320 im not sure if anyone on that USC staff remembers what Sanchez did last year.... he was just OK... when you have the amazing talent around you like at USC OK just doesnt cut it (especially if you are in the championship game against a SEC team)

April 16, 2008  11:46 AM ET

anyone else see that Bambi add to the right >>>>>

Isnt that hysterical????

Oh yeah, USC will have trouble with a few teams this year not just OSU!

April 16, 2008  12:37 PM ET

bgk Booty was the Achilles heel of the offense last year.....No deep ball skills, not a strong arm. He managed games well and thats it. Kinda the same QB Leinfart was except Leinfart has a little stronger arm, he had Reggie Bush, and he was better with the ladies.

bucksfan,

It's not my age that matters. What matters is that I learned my antics from OSU Buckeye fans. I majored in douchebagory at OSU and got hands on training while going to OSU games at the Horseshoe.

April 16, 2008  01:05 PM ET

USC can lose all their games just as long as they beat OSU. USC has something to prove and I think they will use OSU to prove the point that they are the best team in football.

April 16, 2008  01:51 PM ET

I was unimpressed with Sanchez last year.. I thought mustain was the #1 QB prospect his year????

April 16, 2008  02:03 PM ET

There is one person who is very happy Mustain transferred to USC. His name is Ryan Mallett.

April 16, 2008  02:10 PM ET

Fight On! Hopefully the OL will gel soon enough.

April 16, 2008  02:19 PM ET

Awwww Warden thats so delightful for you to compliment OSU on one of our fine majors....

April 16, 2008  02:26 PM ET

To think Sanchez should have started over Booty last yr shows you don't know SC football. Sanchez has a hard time with his reads and is to quick to run. I still think Mustain will get his shot.

Ryan Mallet had his pick of any team in the country he didn't have to go to Arkansas. We would of taken him with open arms
