06:01 AM ET 04.17 | Now the disgruntled Chad Johnson has crossed verbal swords with the one teammate most vital to his success as a Bengals wide receiver. And he says he doesn't plan on "reporting to anything." On Wednesday, the shrapnel from Johnson's offseason interviews that previously had hit the organization, its head coach, Marvin Lewis, and almost every player - save fellow receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh and quarterback Carson Palmer - struck Palmer. Palmer, who has thrown to Johnson for four of the receiver's five Pro Bowl seasons, drew Johnson's ire after saying Johnson had told him he would attend the mandatory minicamp in mid-June.

I feel bad for Palmer, a class act stuck with all this crap that takes place in Cinci.

April 17, 2008  07:15 AM ET

That little tea pot is burning an awful lot of bridges before he even gets to them.

April 17, 2008  07:45 AM ET

Obviously the guy is doing all he can to get traded. I think he will get his wish.

April 17, 2008  08:12 AM ET

This guy is like blood poisoning on this or any team. He's a piece of crap.

April 17, 2008  08:14 AM ET

I hope he doesn't. I am against players holding out when they want more money (you signed the contract dummy) but this time it isn't even about money. Chad signed the contract that gave him long-term financial security. He made a commitment to the Bengals just as the Bengals made to him. But he doesn't want to play in Cinci anymore so he is acting like a spoiled brat.

This kind of conduct quite frankly makes the league look bad. He should get suspended for behaving in a manner that makes the NFL look like a bunch of immature brats.

That's an insult to crap.

April 17, 2008  08:21 AM ET

This guy has to be traded before he burns down every bridge he has in Cincy.

April 17, 2008  08:23 AM ET

Good point BigBlue. Hold him accountable. Bench his ass and don't trade him. Let him simmer and stew. Oh yeah, and bar him from the Cincy sidelines during the games.

April 17, 2008  08:23 AM ET

They should take his contract and laminate it so his pea sized brain can get a clue. They are not going to rip up his contract...

If I were Marvin Lewis...I would tell the rest of the team, "If this is how someone wants to get a new contract...fine. Watch." And then I would stick his ass home, suspend him for conduct detrimental to the team, and refuse to trade his punk ass.

Ocho Cinco...pfft....jebus...try coming up with a nickname that isnt your stupid jersey number in another language...what the hell are you going to be a year from now... Huit Cinq?

What a punk.

Always nice to have a team player on your squad.

April 17, 2008  08:41 AM ET

Folks, come on now. Chad Johnson is no boy scout by any means. But is he really the first guy in pro sports to talk like this? No. There a ton of pros who pull this crap by the week, yet most of them go unnoticed. (Funny how someone like Jeremy Shockey gets a free pass every year for similar behavior). This is partly the media's makings (ESPN leading the way). I'm not saying Johnson is perfect and completely innocent here, but some of you above are pretty off base with the comments.
OK lambast me now for my comment...

April 17, 2008  08:43 AM ET

I used to like Chad for his sideline celebrations but he has really turned me off the way he is going about his trade request. If you are that unhappy play out your contract and resign with another team. Wish I could whine and cry about my job and not report to work and STILL get paid.

April 17, 2008  08:44 AM ET

Shockey has never once demanded to be traded. You can't compare the two.

April 17, 2008  08:45 AM ET

Back in the days of Lombardi, he'd be released....all with the understanding from all of the other owners that he is NOT to be signed by any team. Ha! Too bad the owners don't do this kind of stuff nowadays with problem childs like 85....

April 17, 2008  08:46 AM ET

Ocho Cinco is a Dicko Grande!

Agreed. Shockey, while somewhat of a distraction, has not completely alienated his team and his city. Besides, I think Jeremy got a dose of reality this past year. Might see a big change in his demeaner. ("Wait, they won the SB without me? Christ, I'd better get my act together!")

I agree with a Giants fan !

April 17, 2008  08:58 AM ET

Big money Big ego Big mouth Big deal

April 17, 2008  08:59 AM ET

The Bengals continue to put up with this. This is just another example of a team out of control. Maybe by the time for mini-camp, the rest of the team will be out of jail.

Dang Hllywd, how am I supposed to stand up now?
