Who's on Bulls short list?

Bulls GM John Paxson's list is long and contains some of the usual suspects such as veteran coaches Rick Carlisle and Jeff Van Gundy. It contains some intriguing assistants such as Tom Thibodeau and Michael Curry. It contains some lesser-name former coaches such as Paul Westphal and Dwane Casey. In fact, Paxson didn't rule out much, saying experience was preferred but not mandatory, which brings a candidate such as Mark Jackson into the mix. The list also is fluid, particularly if playoff teams that get bounced early spring unsuspecting successful coaches onto the market. Think the Mavericks' Avery Johnson. Larry Brown, Mike Fratello and Terry Porter aren't expected to draw interest from the Bulls.

That really looks like a bad hair piece on Fratello's head

Basically the Bulls will hire anybody.

Dwane Casey was actually 20-20 with a crappy Wolves team last season, then McHale fired him...

April 18, 2008  11:23 AM ET

What is that on his head?

looks like cat fur on his head

Please do not hire Fratello. Hire Carlisle. After the malice in the palace in detroit, he dealt with a lot of stuff and still guided the pacers to the playoffs; I think he is the only choice for these immature kids.

Please do not hire Fratello, while he is a bad choice; he was always overrated and he is behind the times. Hire Carlisle; he is a disciplinarian but kids like noah and thomas need a guy like that; he has credentials; after the malice in detroit, he guided the pacers to the playoffs with everything that was going on.

Miami will hire Carlisle

April 18, 2008  01:11 PM ET

What the Bulls need is a defensive minded coach who will keep this team disciplined... Hm. I heard Scott Skiles is available. ;)

April 18, 2008  01:35 PM ET

I really doubt Riley will step down so that Carlisle gets hired. NO WAY!!!

April 18, 2008  01:58 PM ET

Just sign Gilbert Arenas and Elton Brand and it really won't matter. Hire Ray Meyer Jr to coach.

April 18, 2008  03:49 PM ET

Isiah Thomas?

Just kidding.

April 18, 2008  05:19 PM ET

If cuban fores Avery Johnson, the Bulls should definitely hire him. He is defensive minded, and would be a good fit for the bulls.

"Who's on Bulls short list" - the keyword here is SHORT.
Since it's a SHORT LIST, the list is made up of short people - Jeff Van Gundy, Mike Fratello, and others.
After all, the article mentions Avery Johnson - another short guy - as a role model for a new coach.
