Shockey trade rumors persist

Amid the speculation and rumblings about a possible trade of Jeremy Shockey, one aspect of the story has been reported accurately, according to Giants general manager Jerry Reese: The Giants have not sought to trade Shockey, nor have they called anyone initiating a trade. What Reese did not say is that Shockey will not be traded. League rumors continue to circulate that Shockey could be dealt, and there's no doubt the Saints came up with an offer for Shockey that the Giants turned down.

Enough is enough already

Maybe Strahan is waiting to see what happens with Shockey before he makes his Favre-like decision.

Good bye Shockey!

April 18, 2008  07:51 AM ET

Shockey needs to stay. I love to see the big lug lumbering towards the end zone. His persona exudes Giants.

April 18, 2008  08:46 AM ET

Shockey is a solid TE, but he has little chemistry with Manning. He skips team work outs, run's routes and trains out of state, and then complains when he and Eli don't connect early in the season.

As an Eagles Fan, I won't deny his skill because he is a threat and I'd like to see him leave the division. As a football fan, I think his attitude sucks and the Giants would be better off with a still developing Boss who is willing to be a Team Guy.

Atlanta needs a TE, and has lot's of picks.....

April 18, 2008  09:33 AM ET

I think it was a good call for the SAINTS to at least make an offer for him. The Giants could get the cap savings by letting him go. They did win in the playoff without him.

I have a worn-out Shockey jersey and I used to love him. But he doesn't seem to fit on this team anymore now that Manning has taken over as the leader. He makes a lot of mistakes and drops too many balls if you ask me. I'd like to see them trade him for some secondary help.

April 18, 2008  09:42 AM ET

Come on, the Giants aren't going to trade Shockey, they need him. I guess since they are the champs everybody who didn't help them are expendable.

April 18, 2008  09:53 AM ET

The Giants won without him. I say trade him for secondary help or simply free up some cap space if possible.

April 18, 2008  10:25 AM ET

I'd like to see him traded for draft picks. Look what Reese did with draft picks last year. They all played and contributed in the playoffs except De Ossie.

Ahmad Bradshaw
Aaron Ross
Kevin Boss
Jay Alford
Steve Smith

Reese would trade him, but only if he got a first round pic for him, and no one has offered that as far as I know. He will not let him go for the 50th pic in this draft. He will play for the Giants this year, especially since he costs less than 2.5 mil against the cap this year. Next year is a totally different story though. If Boss continues to improve, then he will be out there for the taking,

April 18, 2008  10:27 AM ET

man, they won without him....how much do they really need him??...

April 18, 2008  10:43 AM ET

If he were to leave the team, I'd be in complete and utter Shockey.

April 18, 2008  10:51 AM ET

"I'd like to see him traded for draft picks. "

you won't get 'picks' for him.....maybe a 4th rounder?
- he's coming off an injury, drops too many balls, doesn't practice with the team in the off-season (is at the U) & is a known cancer in the clubhouse

what do you think he is worth?

April 18, 2008  10:52 AM ET

So many rumors of trading for Shockey, trading up in the draft to #2, We trade ne more it would be like when Ditka traded all our picks away for Ricky. Not good. We have Cap just hold on to it to resign Colston, Vilma, and our upcoming draft picks.

April 18, 2008  11:37 AM ET

I like Shockey, really do but its not working out well with G-men.
How old is Shockey? I say trade him for draft picks,
maybe send him to Buffalo,
Lots of reasons to drink there! LOL!!!

Seriously, does anybody besides Jeremy Shockey care about Jeremy Shockey??

As soon as he sat down they go and win a superbowl, hmmmmm, maybe he was a distraction rather than an asset.
