Recruit: Vols should not worry

Signing day came and went without Scotty Hopson signing papers to play for the Tennessee Volunteers. But Hopson said there's no reason for Tennessee men's basketball fans to worry. It's a matter of scheduling. The Volunteers have locked up three of their four recruits for the 2008 signing class, but Hopson, UT's premier recruit, is taking a few more days before putting pen to paper. The five-star prospect is expected to sign with the Vols next week after competing in the Jordan Classic All-Star Game in Madison Square Garden on Saturday in New York. Hopson reportedly wants to hold a signing ceremony at his high school in Hopkinsville, Ky., early next week.

Looks like another miss for UK basketball. Will this be another Chris Lofton story stay tuned to find out.

I hope Scotty Hopson gets everything he anticipated out of his decision to play for the hated Vols, because his name back home is now a bad word. The entire State will give Lofton nothing but empathy because of the way he was rejected by Tubby, but Hopson will be known as nothing more than a deserter. He and Mom might as well make the best of the situation now and just move.

Tubby choosing Joe Crawford and Ramel Bradley over Lofton was bourn out this year, they were better players than Lofton as seniors, and had a better tournament. Lofton wasn't even an effective decoy against Louisville. Can the bashing stop at last, particularly as Gillispie's recruiting class this year is inferior to any Tubby assembled in his ten years.

If Gillispie loses Jasper - and the murderous practices and the prosper of more injuries have to be a factor - next year could be bleak. Tough isn't everything.

sorry but bradley and crawford never lived up to their potential. lofton is not one of my favorite players. he seems to fade sometimes in games and be out of focus. but hes better than both those guys. admit it big blue fans.

Lofton is a class, clutch, and charismatic individual. I've met him.
