Jourdain wants full-time ride

Michel Jourdain will return to the Nationwide Series for the first time since the race in Montreal last August this weekend in the Corona Mexico 200 at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez as the driver of Braun Racing's No. 32 entry. If the popular fan favorite in his native country wants to get his name back in the heads of NASCAR team owners, he likely would need to do well this weekend. He originally had a two-year contract with ppc Racing and ran 20 races in what was then known as the Busch Series in 2005, but after sponsorship fell through he ran only three in 2006 and two last season. He also ran seven Craftsman Truck Series races for Jack Roush in 2006. Jourdain hasn???t had a chance to shake down the Braun car and has no experience with ??? and even didn???t know about ??? the carburetor spacer that has sapped the Nationwide cars of some speed this year.

Doesn't every race car driver under the age of 50 want a full-time, paying ride?

Trainwreck, I was about to say the same thing. Once again, this is news?

SLY; They could put another Jr. story in or perhaps something about drug testing. No Cup racing this week = no stories of interest. Maybe we should poke around on the baseball site. Better yet we can watch the grass grow.

How bad is the state of open wheel racing that this even makes T&R? It's a non story about a non entity.

As for the article itself. He is a decent driver and did decent in a car for a underfunded team. His problem was PPC racing couldn't find the money from a full time sponsor when he drove for them in 2005. Many races they had PPC Racing as the sponsor. PPC has basically faded from existence due to a lack of sponsorship. I knew the owner of PPC racing's wife and they are good people. They tried giving him the best equipment they could, but without a sponsor things just don't work. Unfortunately sometimes a ride with a underfunded team is worse than performing bad with a fully funded team.

How have times changed. PPC racing and owner Greg Polex used to have one of the top Busch Series programs. Chad Little was competitive for championships in the mid-1990's and Jeff Green drove a PPC racing car to a then record 616 point margin in winning the 2000 Busch Series Title. They were in the top 10 in 2001,2002 and 2003 before not finding sponsorship in 2004 and not running that season. They have struggled to find sponsorship and closed shop in 2007.
