'Max' revealed, denies A-Rod used

On Friday, Jose Canseco's lawyer, Greg Emerson, confirmed that Max was Joseph Dion, a Miami-based trainer. Emerson made the confirmation after SI.com published an interview with Dion in which he said he was certain that he was the Max described in the book. But unlike the depiction of Max offered in "Vindicated," Dion said that he was opposed to the use of steroids and that Alex Rodriguez did not use them when they worked together for several years beginning in the late 1990s. When he spoke to reporters before taking batting practice for a game against Baltimore, Rodriguez said he did train with Dion for several years when he was with the Seattle Mariners, for whom he last played in 2000.

I have no doubt that he uses steroids.....he's a Yankee.

I hope this story puts a little more doubt into people's heads with regards to Canseco's validity. While he was right about alot of things, this whole situation highlights the fact that deep down he is not a good person and everything he says should be scrutinized.

Can we now please give the guy a break about the roid issue at least?

What a stupid, ignorant statement. The Mets & Yankees were predominately featured in the Mitchell Report but do you really think steriods is an isolated problem? What a joke. Change your name from broadhead to bonehead.

I'm glad that Dion stepped up and Jose can no longer blackmail Alex. Jose's second book contains nothing of substance.

lol

Broadhead - what a well thought out and intelligent response.

You are clearly are some kind of ignorant moron.

Dion was heard to say to "Ass-Rod" - listen I'm opposed to the use of steroids but I don't mind injecting them in your ass"!!!

I hate how people say that yankees always use steroids. McNamee and Clemens coming from Toronto. They were the reason Knoblock took them. Giambi was always a steroid user and that was probably the same with Sheffield when he was on the yankees.

Canseco's story is discredited by the only other person who has actual knowledge and still the haters bash ARod and the Yankees ... go figure.

It isn't steroids or whatever else it's really all of our jealousy for the Yankees. I'm a long time Red Sox fan but without the "rivalry" things wouldn't be half as fun or interesting!!!

Farnsworth was suspended for his throw at Manny?

You owe us one, Yankees.

April 19, 2008  04:24 PM ET

Most of the statements here, want to believe a stranger DIon, because they hate Canseco. How do you know Dion is telling the truth? Wait and see what happens, you know this story will change 50 times before its over.

April 19, 2008  06:14 PM ET

I would be ashamed of myself if I were a Yankee fan.

Another Manny game-winning HR and another rough outing by Ian Kennedy.

Another good night.

Nice to see an honest person Kaysee, and jealousy is always at the root of hatred.
Boardhead: you haven't changed still a bone head, althogh I prefer to call you pin head.
HyperrRevenue: Owe us one yankees? In the previous game A Rod got drilled in the back after he hit his HR, even Manny understood and mented that, inferring they were even. Some say Manny is not a smart man, but I think he is. You hyperRevenue can learn something from this man. Wise up and pay attention.

While being a Yankee should have nothing to do with his Riod use. The fact of the matter is that he has gained way to much bulk way to fast and anyone with 20-40 vision should realize that he is a riod user. It really has nothing to do with being a Yankee. Being a Yankee was the second worst mistake of his life, the first being the roid use. Of course it could be argued that choosing to be a Yankee was the first biggest mistake of his Life. Can you say Asterix
