Scouts question Douglas-Roberts

Memphis junior guard Chris Douglas-Roberts officially put his name in the NBA Draft on Friday, ending his college career. Though it was unclear as of Friday afternoon whether he had hired an agent, his mother Judy Roberts told The Commercial Appeal that the decision "is final." Douglas-Roberts could be taking somewhat of a risk by turning pro. Various draft projections list him anywhere from near the top 10 to out of the first round completely. Only first-round draft picks get guaranteed contracts. All season, scouts have had some questions about whether Douglas-Roberts' unique skill set will translate to the next level. One NBA scout said Douglas-Roberts' unorthodox array of runners and floaters might not fit with every team but noted that he had improved his perimeter shooting throughout the course of the season and would not likely slip out of the first round.

I think he's good enough for at least a late 1st round pick. However, it would have been in his best interest to stay another year at Memphis and improve his game only further.

Does this mean he was flunking out of Memphis?

He should stay in school. I don't think he will ever be nothing more than a role player in the league. Last I checked role player made a pretty nice paycheck.

Whose to say. He can certainly drive to the basket as well as any guard.

He's not near strong enough for the NBA, he's scrawny. He may be crafty, but doesn't have near enough athletism to get jumpers off in the NBA.

If he somehow didn't get drafted, he couldn't return?

Only if he signed with an agent, Sports Fan. I presume that he has, though I've never seen anything to confirm that. Little help?
