Urlacher disputes trade demand
Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher disputed a report that he has threatened to retire if the Bears don't reward him with more guaranteed money. "I never said that I was going to quit," Urlacher told the Tribune on Friday morning. "That's just a gossip column. Reports like that is why I choose not to speak to the media." Urlacher also diffused any trade talk suggested in the report.

Don't talk to the media and they'll make something up so you have to talk to them to set the story straight. Talk to the media in the first place and if they don't like what you said, they'll just make something up. Damm media.

yeah, you really can't blame Urlacher for not talking to the media that tries to bury him every chance they get. Reporting on his personal life/problems and stuff that should be private. Making up trade demands. Saying he cost his team last year by playing hurt. The guy has been nothing short of an animal for his entire pro career, and yet he still gets treated like tabloid fodder. I wouldn't talk to the media if I were him either

The first article was just media B.S., trying to get hits and trying to draw attention to their article. It wouldn't surprise me if the Bears increase his contract a little even though his contract is already a big contract. He's worth it, their defense has been good ever since he arrived.

Actually this is the perfect the time to trade him. His body is breaking down and he isn't the player he used to be. His value as a player is at its highest now and will go down from here. If you can get a 1st round pick and another 2nd or 3rd I say you pull the trigger. We was great, one of the best of his time, but last year he wasn't the same player. That defense was awful last year. Go look at the numbers. He never was that good at shedding blockers and doesn't have the DTs he once had.

"Whoever said I might retire is nothing but a dirty liar. I LOVE the Bears and I want to stay just give me a little extra pay".

I had a feeling it was **** anyway for two main reasons:
First, HE was never quoted as saying that directly .. it was a second-hand account at best.
And second, why the hell would he say "I might have to retire due to injuries" if he's trying to get another contract worked out for MORE money? Granted he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but wouldn't common sense prohibit you from shooting yourself in the foot since no team is gonna ante-up for a player who's so screwed up physically, that he's contemplating just packing it in?
I gotta support Brian on this one Tommy T and Urlacher54!

It's sad that if you keep quiet, the media will speak for you or say something to almost require a response from you...ha ha. Brian still has several good years left- he would be a fool to quit and throw all that money away.

Are you feeling okay??? hahahaha
Right in the money!! I don't know how they come up with some of this **** but just to see if it works I am going in today to demand a raise. When asked why I deserve it I am going to tell my boss that I don't feel like I can do my job as good as I used to. That should work. Jesus Christ, what is wrong with some of these writers.
And Watson get off the trade thing. Even if it was the right thing to do they are not going to trade the face of the franchise.

Thank you, Brian! (I think you mean he's the "Jersey of the franchise.") Urlacher signed a contract for a huge bonus a while back and now he wants more because Briggs got more proportionally. He wants a taste. But he got his taste with the $13million up front. The Bears DONT need another disruption this offseason going into camp. It would be better to trade him and get max value NOW. His body is banged up and he's seen his best days. I am not saying the Bears should be disloyal, but for him to sow the seeds of dissension will mess everything up.
Urlacher should try and get himself a mail-order brain 'cause the one he has ain't working. (Check out his off-field life. Jeez.) He's only creating distance between himself, the Bears organization and ultimately the fan base. Fans think he's greedy - and he is.

The title here is Urlacher disputes trade demands.
It's not about his previous contract, which if you have read anything you will see that i said he should play through it. It is not about his off field life which you seem to be more interested than football. Scroll up to BlackGolds comment to see how and what you are supposed to be responding to.
Now I am going to get off the topic but I have to respond to your comment....
"His body is banged up and he's seen his best days".
He plays middle linebacker, he is going to get banged up, numbsack. As far as him seeing his best days, I would say that holds true for anyone that plays that position for that long. And as banged up as you say he is he still led the team in tackles and had 5 sacks.
So let me see if i can understand what you are saying. We should trade him now for as you put it MAX VALUE. But then you state that he is stupid, disruptive, banged up and his best days are behind him. What the **** are you talking about. Make up your frigging mind.
