Vikings entertain Allen trade

The Vikings had Jared Allen right where they wanted him Friday. The Pro Bowl defensive end spent much of his day receiving first-class treatment and visiting with team officials at Winter Park. But owner Zygi Wilf attempted to downplay talk the Vikings were on the verge of working out a trade with Kansas City or a multiyear contract for Allen with agent, Ken Harris, who also was in town.

Considering two of the Vikes DEs will likely miss the entire season, I'd have to say they do indeed need a DE, especially one who can put pressure on the QB. Their D has improved so much and the main problem is opposing QBs having way too much time to find a receiver. Allen would go a long way in solving that.

I hope that the Vikings get him. He would be such a good addition to the team. The Vikes would just need to make sure that there was a clause in his contract about his drinking just so they cover themselves. He could be the missing piece to our defense. Go Vikings!

Get the trade done. I don't see the Vikes getting anyone in the first round who will make a huge difference. Allen would be a force right away and help the pass defense.
