Urban wants Tebow to pass more

Florida coach Urban Meyer said a good bit of the spring was spent trying to get Tim Tebow, the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner, to stay in the pocket more and not run as soon as he feels defensive pressure. "He's one of the best players of our era but he most improve his ability to play in the pocket," Meyer said.

Big slow Michigan made Tebow look scared in the pocket and he threw off of his back foot all game. Good full back in college 3rd qb in the nfl maybe a tight end?

April 19, 2008  09:30 AM ET

Well, he'd probably pass more if teams weren't gunning for him. establish a running game with someone other then Tebow, and stop running him in the same bloody formation! It's gotten to the point where you go, "Look. Tebow is going to run up the gut this play". I like Urban Meyer, but his play calling is way too predictable and he should have have ran his backs a little more then he did. He's going to get Tebow killed.

I definitely agree with the Crazy Chicken; Meyer looked like a genius when it was a two QB system but even then it should have been Tebow all the time. This dude has a good arm. Better playcalling, and especially NFL-Like playcalling will make him an amazing first round product for any NFL team, and a great NFL starter; especially to a team from Chi-Town

April 19, 2008  09:49 AM ET

kspice,

Right on point. That horrible slow Big 10 UM D did to Tebow and UF that most teams couldn't do.

I still marvel how Morgan Trent came from no where to catch Harvin and save the TD. Harvin must have been shaking his head and saying, "Damn, that Michigan dude is faster than me!"

April 19, 2008  09:51 AM ET

Yakisu21 you need to take a drug test. Yes he has a strong arm but it also takes him ten days to release the ball and that doesnt fly in the NFL. Look at Michigan and how they rattled his cage and they are from the Big Slow Big Ten and they made him look like ****. Image what a team with speed would do to him if he actually had to pass every down or had to play a real offense instead of a gimmick one

Michigan made Tebow EAT DIRT on a few occasions. If you don't believe me then check this picture out...

Michigan kicked Tebows rear end all day long!

April 19, 2008  11:15 AM ET

Tebow got a Big 10 Buttt kicking!!

April 19, 2008  11:16 AM ET

I don't care how tough Tebow is.. if he continues to run.. those hits will eventually take their toll on him. He has a bright future ahead of him in the NFL, i wouldn't want to see him get hurt at all, he is an exciting player to watch. Just give the ball to Harvin and Rainey.... my god just watching the spring game.. Rainey looks very promising.. he'll be a game-breaker

April 19, 2008  11:17 AM ET

Florida got a taste of Big 10 Speed. That soft SEC defense had more holes than a golf course. Floridas easy conference schedule could never have prepared them for the vicious Michigan Wolverines.

"He's one of the best players of our era..."

WHAT?! ****! I know this kid is overhyped, but this is just comical. I'll bet Urban has a poster of Timmy over his bed. There must be something in the air in Gainesville that makes coaches this arrogant, the Zooker wasn't arrogant enough, so he had to go...

April 19, 2008  12:26 PM ET

Tebow is a great Qb. UM was after him and could have landed him had they had the boosters OSU has. He just isn't use to getting pressured liked UM did in the Cap 1 Bowl. Pressure any QB and he'll make mistakes.

April 19, 2008  02:09 PM ET

Tebow is not FAST. He is a power runner. What do you think Michigan's defense was designed since the Schembechler era to stop? POWER RUNS! Add to that a really bad pass defense which Michigan exploited, and you can realize why Florida is not as good as advertised. They are still one of the elite teams in the NCAA, but they were definitely over rated (so was OSU by the way). They didn't exactly kill a beat up Michigan team when they played last year. Look for UF to dominate this year in the SEC. Only team that will beat them will be Georgia. They play Hawaii (scrub), Miami (new scrub), Tennessee (average at best), Ole Miss (Scrub), Arkansas (No Mcfadden, No problem), LSU (well-coached, should be a good game), KY (scrub), Vandy (scrub), SC (scrub), Citadel (really? they play football? I thought they just shoot guns), FSU (when was the last time they were any good?)...Easy schedule...

April 19, 2008  02:46 PM ET

Big 10 Speed? LOL!!!! Florida is very young, but all I have to say is look at the Big 10 Speed vs the Slow SEC in national championship games....2-0 in the last 2 years, both teams manhandled a soft OSU team thats still pimps Michigan. In the SEC success isn't measured in Outback Bowl wins but in Championship Hardware. Michigan nor Ohio State could survive an SEC schedule. If I recall correctly Michigan 2 years ago struggled against Vandy at home....EVERYBODY beats Vandy in the SEC.

April 19, 2008  02:57 PM ET

Michigan,

Congrats on the win. The world was just as shocked as you were. It was a nice way to send your coach out. The win had very little to do with harassing Tebow, but more to do with your offense throttling the UF D.

April 19, 2008  03:38 PM ET

Ok Missagain Fans - you won by 6.
Just 6.
According to sportsline.com

The Gators kept it close thanks to plenty of big plays by Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow .
Playing with a broken bone in his non-throwing hand and facing constant blitzes, Tebow was 17-of-33 for 154 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 57 yards and a score

Yea Missagain really buried the guy. MY BAD!

April 19, 2008  03:57 PM ET

LSUBest,

Watch the game if yo can find it instead of relying on what someone else wrote.

Regardless, it was a great game and remember that UM wasn't even considered to have a chance.

So put that in your gumbo soup and SLURP it up!

April 19, 2008  04:41 PM ET

Keep in mind also that Florida was missing a bunch of starters to injuries also.

And the cajun jokes are getting really old

April 19, 2008  05:28 PM ET

Michigan nor Ohio St. could survive an SEC schedule?? WTF Your a big time idiot if you really think that Big Gator. Im an SEC fan and I know thats not true. You must have never played in a football game in your life. What? UM & OSU cant but Vandy, Ole Miss, and Miss St. are good enough to survive the SEC?? What a buffoon you are

April 19, 2008  05:33 PM ET

Did you SEC blowhards even watch the BCS Title game? I'm pretty sure that when 250 lb beanie wells outran LSU's secondary, the Big 10-SEC speed debate officially ended. You're all so ignorant down south, go drink some whiskey and beat up some women...
