Redskin hears disturbing rumors

After hearing disturbing rumors earlier in the offseason about his status with the Redskins, quarterback Jason Campbell figured it was time to speak with new coach Jim Zorn. There were rumblings Zorn was not committed to Campbell as the starter next season, and Campbell wanted to know where he stood. "He told me it wasn't true. He told me this is my team," Campbell said after workouts this week at the complex. "He made it clear that I'm the quarterback the Redskins are going to grow with. He told me that I'm still developing as a young quarterback, but that he thinks I have it all. . . . I have what it takes to take us to where we want to go. That was a confidence-builder."

who else can be the redskins qb

April 19, 2008  09:22 AM ET

And Jason Campbell believed what he was told. haha

From day one all I've read was Zorn saying Jason was the starter. I must have missed something or Jason is a little paranoid.

Draft Colt Brennan

April 19, 2008  09:43 AM ET

Colt Brennan?!? HA, Brennan is a joke of a QB, he's nothing more than a product of June Jones system at Hawaii. He was exposed against Georgia for the QB he really is, he doesn't have a strong enough arm to be successful in the NFL.

I live in Hawaii and have seen many of Colts games. And you my friend are absolutely correct. But thats why I want him to go to the Redskins :)

Of course he is the QB. He did a nice job when he was in there. And more importantly, who can they get who would do better?

"After hearing disturbing rumors earlier in the offseason about his status with the Redskins, quarterback Jason Campbell figured it was time to speak with new coach Jim Zorn...."

After settling that, Jim told Jason that Becky had a crush on him and that Chaz the Spazz was a poser!

WTF? Is this Jr. High?

April 19, 2008  01:51 PM ET

What Jim Zorn really said was "listen kid even at my age I could beat you out at QB so don't unpack your bags when pre-season starts" !!!

I think that 3 million dollar contract they gave to his back up Collins might be putting some doubts in his mind...He just needs to be reassured that no matter how he performs the job is his...Collins looked good last year..

I love cheering for the Redskins when they play against everyone but the Vikings............... love you amigosss....

April 19, 2008  06:44 PM ET

I think they are on the right track.

Hahahahahahahaha, a real comedian.

he is terrible, they should spend their money better, maybe they could draft Brohm this year and have a decent QB for the future.
they are in the same situation as my chiefs a nobody head coach and a QB that was way overrated coming out of college and they both will be out of the league in 5 years.

50 yearfan, the 3 million dollar contract for Collins was the going rate for back up QBs this offseason. I don't think Collins contract is a threat to Campbell at all. Collins was not the only QB to get a deal worth $3 million a year, the Jags gave Cleo Lemon a 3-year, $9 million deal, the Dolphins signed Josh McCown to a 2-year, $6.25 million deal, and the Chargers re-signed Billy Volek to a 3-year, $9 million deal. 3 million dollars seems to be the going rate for a good amount of back up QBs.

But how does he feel about Obama? The real football question.
