Nets expect to make changes

Change will be forthcoming for the Nets, but Rod Thorn stressed it doesn't mean a complete, total overhaul. He said he would be "comfortable" if the four main offensive pieces - Vince Carter, Richard Jefferson, Devin Harris and Nenad Krstic - returned en masse. Thorn said Carter is almost certainly headed for arthroscopic ankle surgery, management wants to keep the team's three key free agents and Kiki Vandeweghe is on the verge of a GM-type position.

What's the point here? On one hand, "change will be forthcoming", and on the other hand, Thorn wants to keep all the big-contract players around. Heck, he even wants to keep Vandeweghe, although I can't imagine why anyone would keep a guy whose first name is "Kiki", and whose last name is even stranger.

He's basically going fishing. Float the idea that the Nets are looking to make changes, be politically correct and say you want to keep your 4 core players, then see if you get any bites. I imagine if he could unload Carter, and to a lesser extent, Jefferson, for a decent big man, he'd do it without much hesitation.

signing a lazy pig like Vince was where the nets franchise went wrong-
tmac, vince, stephon......when your best players are lazy defenders & unmotivated - you CAN NOT win

The Nets are a couple of players away. It only makes sense to keep the core of this team together.

" Dude all they need to do is get elton brand and they will be a playoff team.Or maybe trade richard jefferson for odom "

um- why not trade Kristic for Lebron?
seriously- how can the nets pay for elton when they have 2 max contracts?
and why the h@ll would the lakers give up odom for jefferson & his MASSIVE contract?

that's why fans are not GM's

Elton would be a good fit for that team but how would the team numbers look? Elton is going to max out or be close to it
