I beg to differ, while they lost a player who had alot of talent they avoided having a low life, poor attitude problem to deal with, You would have had a player who is really good, and equally as good at throwing old men to the ground and acting like a tough guy at 156 lbs. Making the trade has its positives and negatives.

Regardless of what you think of Pedro's attitude, they traded a guy that would win 2 Cy Young awards and have the highest winning percentage in the game for Delino DeSheilds. You can argue that they should have traded him, but you cant argue that they received a fair return

No positives for the Dodgers in this deal. REally don't see how Pedro has been a problem. Maybe he goes inside a lot but thats not exactly a bad thing.

He is entitled to defense but he was using offense as his defense. Even further 156lb guys should not be throwing at the heads of batters. Then he could have avoided the whole 72 year old threat.

It is a horrible trade. You don't just trade an extremely talented player with that much potential just because to you, he has an "attitude".

who the hell cares hiow much he weighs when he throws at batters? If he can (could) throw 97, he knows what he has in his arsenal, and he obviously isn't worried about repercussions. There sin't a weight restriction on pitchers who want to throw inside

Nomarfan/whales: many throw inside, but he threw at batters, (hit two yankee batters the game or so before) at least in the american league, Which is OK, but when the benches clear because of his ****, he usually is down the run way, hiding out. accept for this time which is when he threw the old man down. I don't know his Hit batters stats since he is in the NL, but I'm sure it's down. He himself now has to have AB's.

As a lifelong Sox fan, there was nothing greater than watching Pedro Martinez pitch at the turn of the century. More often than not, he was masterful, baffling hitters and driving Fenway into a frenzy. On every two strike pitch, the fans would get up and chant "Pedro, Pedro," and when he would deliver that 3rd strike, the place would go nuts. Absolute electricity. I miss those days.....

I remember the summer of 1999, and I was spending the night with my grandmother watching the Sox-Yankees game on her tiny television. Jeter, O'neill, Posada, etc all went down swinging. Pedro had 17 strikeouts that night, and my grandma had to tell me to keep it down more than once, as I am shouting at the TV, whooping it up. Great memory. All around the city that next day it was "Dude, did you see Pedro last night?" His icy glare was plastered all over the front pages of the Boston Globe. #45 jerseys were everywhere in those days. A pitcher that dominating doesn't come around very often.

Right on trickykid. It's easy to rip a guy now that he's past his prime. What Pedro did to batters in the juice-era should put him in the HOF without even mentioning 2004. Best pitcher I ever saw.
