Two days after TNT studio analyst Magic Johnson derided forward Rasheed Wallace for his behavior in Game 1 -- when Wallace entered the Philadelphia huddle and talked to an ex-teammate sitting courtside -- Pistons coach Flip Saunders came to the defense of his All-Star forward. Asked if Wallace's actions are comical, Saunders said, "You can't help but laugh at some of the things he says."

I have to admit It was funny as hell when he wen`t into the 76ers huddle. Then he blew a layup.

Lets just hope that its a layup that he just blew

I love Sheed. Before sheed was on my team, I didn't. I found it funny. Before tha game, they had the Pistons championship trophies on the floor, and someone had just finished cleaning it when Sheed walked up and touched it. He is like a kid who just loves the game and has fun with it.

I don't think you can really appreciate the guy until you see first hand everynight how much he loves the game and the community. I'll take 5 Sheeds with passion for the game over a single premadonna star whining for a trade every other day when they feel like it..

April 23, 2008  08:32 AM ET

Oh please...the media needs to stop talking about this already. That's just Rasheed's personality... he's goofy and fun. That has absolutely nothing to do with him blowing the last layup...he just missed it, so what, move on already.

They're not gonna lose this series to the Sixers anyway. Give credit to the Sixers who are playing great and deserved to win that game but they have no chance against the Pistons in this series.

Sheed took blame for the loss. This is a best of 7 series. This isn't the NCAA tourney where you're one and done. Move on to game 2.

Ridiculous that Magic was critiicizing Rasheed Wallace on this basis. I seem to recall Magic being all kissy-face with Isiah [sic] Thomas and the like during games back in the '80s.

He might have been one of the 5 or 10 greatest players of all time, but he has long been a buffoon behind the mic.

April 23, 2008  09:18 AM ET

Brad, I agree. Magic loves to criticize players for their actions but Magic should be the last person criticizing anyone...we can all recall his mishaps and they go WAY ABOVE going into an opposing team's huddle.

I recall him criticizing Kobe last year when he demanded a trade even though he did the exact same thing back in the early 80's after a huge blowout with his then coach Westhead. Buss instead fired Westhead and kept Magic. Hipocritical is if you ask me.

hey man...DONT DISRESPECT MAGIC.......magic is top 2...on every list....magic has never been accused of being selfish....when he played, every player in the league wanted to play with him....kobe is nothing like Magic....Kobe is a great player...Magic is a legend

Of what, the Lamest Sports Broadcasters?

Look, we're not talking about Magic Johnson as a player here, by which measure he's one of the all-time greats, but as a broadcaster.

April 23, 2008  10:25 AM ET

Maybe Rasheed can wear the Benny the Bull uniform when he retires.

April 23, 2008  10:26 AM ET

People rip the TNT guys but without them we wouldn't have half the stories here on T & R. I love the NBA in that aspect. Your favorite players go from playing to making windy comments about the game in the scope of a season.

I said this two days ago:

***************

Wallace is a fool. Did you all see how he was chumming with the 76ers before the last play like they were all buddies? Idiot. Glad Portland got rid of his ass.

***************

My mind has not changed...

April 23, 2008  11:48 AM ET

Yeah Odenator and I'm sure you've enjoyed the success Portland's had since getting rid of him right?

A man that is HIV positive has no right to deride and guy trying to be funny on the court. Basketball needs a little humor to break up the wrestling during the game....

April 23, 2008  12:50 PM ET

who cares what sheed does....you're watching the game....turn it off if you don't want to watch

That's a pretty good batting averge: two sentences, two non-sequiturs.

I think Magic may have been overly critical of Sheed; I rember Magic's first game at the FGorum when he did a summersault and hugged Kareem after their first home win. Maybe Majic is just trying too hard to analytical. I agree he is not a great broadcaster.

But as I recall Magic is still the ONLY player in NBA history to shoot 50%+ from the floor & 90%+ from the line in the same year; not to mention play three positions in a playoff game and win the MVP of the series playing center in a pivitol game six on the 76ers court with Kareem sitting back in LA.
