Jets may trade up for McFadden

Posted: Wednesday April 23, 2008 05:38AM ET

The Jets own the sixth selection in the draft, and there is a growing belief around the league that Darren McFadden is one of their targets. Concerned the Raiders (No. 4) might select the dynamic running back, the Jets may try to trade up (the Rams are at No. 2) for McFadden, according to a league source. McFadden was in New York Tuesday for the second time in less than a week. The former Arkansas star has a hunch he could be spending a lot of time in these parts after the Jets make their first draft pick on Saturday.

Trade up with the Raiders, cause we don't want him!

I think McFadden would be a great superstart in NY, unfortunately, I don't think he will play like a superstar. Kinda like Shockey, Stephan Marbury, and all the others that the NY media hype endlessly without substance. Heck, throw in Joe Namath to the list.

even if he's the second coming of Barry Sanders, the jests will still suck

Jets and Fins are gonna be tougher this year than people think.

Heck with trading up....stand pat, and if he's gone, simply pick a much needed QB in the first round.

Offer the Raiders your first round and second round picks for McFadden.

felix jones may be better than d-mac

I don't see NY trading up-
I would love to see us get McF at 6 WHERE WE ARE.
but trading up to 2 ? it makes no sense to give up a draft pick
UNLESS they are stupid enough to take our fat nose tackle instead of an extra pick- but that's not happening (other than in dreamworld)

As a Rams fan, I hope the Jets and Rams do swing such a deal... But I personally believe that the Jets would be better off trading down a few picks and taking Rashard Mendenhall than trading up to take Darren McFadden.

Report Offensive Comment

this isn't happening. The Jets have way too many holes to make this move, especially when they have a pretty good back in Thomas Jones if their line is right this year. And if the line isn't good, McFadden can't do anything anyway. The jets have to address their defense here.

Has anybody looked at the stats for this guy, he has a real problem with hanging on to the ball in college, they will eat him alive in the pro's. After the forth or fifth fumble he will be waved by the sucker team that drafted him.
Hope he goes to the raiders, he will fit right in.

whatever the jets do, I am confident it will be completely stupid.

It would be a good pick, they have no spark in their offense.

Mangina, Mangina - my hearts on fire for Mangina. Trade up you foolish foolish man !!!

I would be more than happy to see the Jets trade up to 4... To make sure they get this knucklehead... Then we can take Sedrick Ellis at 6... Plus pick up another pick in Round 2 or 3... Done deal

McFadden never carried the ball 20 times a game.... I know everyone is thinking Adrian Peterson, but that's not what he is.....

Report Offensive Comment

"McFadden never carried the ball 20 times a game.... "

WHAT? 33 against Alabama, 34 against South Carolina, 32 vs. LSU...Hell there is only 3 games he didn't carry it more than 20 times a game, and that was against N. Texas, FIU, but also Auburn. He even averaged 24 carries a game in his sophomore year too...

McFadden is merely a smokescreen. They want Gholston first, and would settle for Ryan if Gholston is not availabe. If neither are available they will try like crazy to trade down... not up.

McFadden is certainly not a #2 pick. His "stand-up" style will make him easy to tackle. His tendency to fumble will be magnified in the NFL. He is a big-stud-hoss back with speed and power who was a joy to watch as a collegiate. Sadly, his skills will not translate to the big leagues. I hope the Jets trade up to take him. Go Pats! Roll Tide!
